Lon Clary

Lon Clarey, Pioneer Of Caddo County Dies In Fort Cobb

Lon Clarey, 72, a pioneer Sturm community farmer, died suddenly at his home in Fort Cobb March 7. Final rites were held Sunday at the Harvey funeral home by R.E. Harvey and burial was made in the Fort Cobb cemetery.

Born in Texas Jan. 7, 1873, Mr. Clarey first came to Oklahoma in 1892.

He later returned to Texas and was married to Mattie Hudgins, Aug. 1, 1897. After his marriage he and his wife returned to this county and soon located in the Sturm community where they lived until 1943 when they moved to Fort Cobb. He was a member of the Baptist church and the I.O.O.F. lodge. Survivors include his wife and their five children, Mrs. Elizabeth Meek, Weatherford; Mrs. Lena Barney, Long Beach, Calif.; Mrs. Irene Gilbert, Socoro, New Mexico; Andrew Clarey, Fort Cobb, and Raymond Clarey in the U.S. Army.
