September 5, 1943 ~ August 8, 2009


EDMOND: Funeral for James Edward Vap, 65, Edmond, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Crews Funeral Home Chapel, Apache, with the Rev. Bud Jones officiating.

Mr. Vap died Saturday, Aug. 8, 2009 in Edmond.

Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.

He was born September 5, 1943, in Anadarko, to Velery and Mary Allene Clancy Vap.

He grew up in Apache, and worked at the Apache Co-op when he was in high school.

He married Sally Gilliam on February 2, 1964.

He was a trucker for Tyson Foods.

He later married Edith Mischel on August 5, 1985. While working for Tyson Foods, he was named Driver of the Year before he retired.

Survivors include three daughters: Nancy Vap and Jamie Dawdy, both of Cyril; and Caren Vap, Edmond; a stepdaughter, Brenda Bradley, Indianapolis; three grandchildren: Blake Bradley, Bailey Bradley and Jordan Bradley; and many cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a grandson, Dalton Dawdy.
