Dorothy Ida "Dottie"[White] Dowling
August 6, 1939 ~ November 25, 2013


Dorothy Ida "Dottie" Dowling of Apache, Oklahoma was born August 6, 1939 in Youngstown, Ohio. She moved to Kentucky and was raised by her parents, Francis Regis and Geraldine Josephine Ilean Lenore [Quigley] White. She passed away November 25th in Lawton, OK at the age of 74.

Dottie graduated from Lexington, KY Catholic School and worked as a candy striper while in high school.

She joined the Women's Army Corps where she received nurse's training.

She met Roy Merrit Dowling, Jr. at Ft. Sam Houston in San Antonio, TX and they were married on November 8, 1958 in Seguin, TX. He preceded her in death on November 20, 1996.

After her service in the WACs, she obtained her beauty license and owned and operated a salon in California until she and her husband moved to Apache, OK in 1973. She became an "Avon Lady" while raising 6 children.

Dottie was a member of the Good Sams RV Club and served at their secretary. With her companion of 15 years, Dave Windham, she would go nearly every month on a mini vacation with the club. She was a member of the Red Hats Society and the First United Methodist Church.

She enjoyed playing computer games on Facebook and collecting porcelain dolls. She loved her family tremendously, and every year, beginning the day after Christmas, she would start planning for the next year's Christmas by purchasing gifts throughout the year.

She is survived by: Her companion, Dave Windham, of the home; 5 daughters-Vicky and husband, Mark Puskaric of Salinas, CA; Patty and husband Ben Corvin Hayden, AL; Jeanette and husband, Tim Ellis of Marlow, OK; Nancy Bowers of Lawton, OK; Naomi and husband, Jimmie Morris of Apache, OK; 2 sons-Roy Dowling, III and fiancée Lisa Savage of Birmingham, AL; John Dowling and fiancée Judy Collins of Cement, OK; David's children-Kristin and husband Merlin Fitzpatrick; Kelly Windham, David and wife, Ellery Windham; 25 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; David's 4 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; 1 brother-Frank and wife, Judy White.

She was preceded in death by: Her parents; Her husband, Roy Dowling, Jr.; 1 great-grandson, Gianni Guitilla; 1 sister, Gladys White.

Funeral service will be held Saturday, November 30th at 2:00 P.M. at Calvary Temple in Cyril, OK with Pastor Kip Ackley officiating and assisted by Rev. Chris Stinnett. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Apache under the direction of Crews Funeral Home.

Memorial Contributions may be sent to the American Cancer Society.
