Bessie Rose [Lesch] Dolan
November 3, 1905 ~ March 20, 2008


FLETCHER -- Word has been received of the death of Bessie Rose Lesch Dolan, 102, Fletcher.

Private funeral was held Tuesday at Crews Funeral Home Chapel, Apache.

Mrs. Dolan died Thursday, March 20, 2008, at her home.

Burial was in Fairview Cemetery.

She was born November 3, 1905, near Alden, Oklahoma Territory, two years before statehood.

She attended a one-room school from grades one through eight at Mountain Home. She graduated from Alden Consolidated School and attended Southwestern Normal College in Weatherford and the University of Oklahoma.

She taught seven years in one and two-room schools in Oklahoma.

She married Forest Dolan in April 3, 1939. He died in 1987.

She lived in the Alden, Boone and Apache communities until 1959 when she moved to Alva and lived with her daughters four years.

She attended Northwestern State University, graduating with a bachelor's degree in 1963 at the age of 56.

She had lived in Fletcher since 1965.

She was involved in the Boone Home Demonstration Club, Apache PTA, and the Fleur-de-lis Flower Club of Fletcher, serving as president several times.

Survivors include three daughters and two sons-in-law: Marilyn Rose Durden, Lawton; Susan Viola and Dean Horinek, Dallas; and Bonnie Marie McDonald Coffey and Doyle, Oklahoma City; six grandchildren and their spouses: Tanya Synar, Farmers Branch, Texas; Kevin and Gayla Horinek, Lewisville, Texas; Kristin Horinek Balko and Greg Balko, Aspen, Colo.; Kelly Rose Horinek, McLean, Va.; and Brandi McDonald-Juarez and Pedro Juarez, and Stephen Dolan McDonald and April, all of Oklahoma City; two step grandchildren: Jimmy McDonald and his wife Yvette, of Asher; and Dianna McDonald, Grand Junction, Colo.; great-grandchildren: Madison Rose Horinek, Lewisville, Texas; Storey Rose, Nathan, and Luke Balko, all of Aspen, Colo.; Tyler and Matthew McDonald, and Sophia McDonald-Juarez, all of Oklahoma City; step great-grandchildren: Stephani, Jamee, Christopher, and Michal McDonald, Oklahoma City; and two sisters: Violet Lesch, and Mildred Lesch Moodie, both of Oklahoma City.

She was preceded in death by four brothers: Hank, Elbert, John and Jim Lesch; and three sisters: Florence Douglas, Dorothea Cooke, and Marie Lesch.
