Miss Daisy A. Cox, who was formerly a teacher of music in the Enid public schools, killed herself last Friday at Apache by shooting herself through the heart.

Despondency broughyt on by ill health and her inability to take a course in music, are supposed to have caused her to commit suicide.

Athalie Bellie [Ice] Cox
March 19, 1921 ~ April 12, 2008


Athalie Bellie Cox passed away April 12, 2008. Born in Fletcher, Oklahoma, on March 19, 1919, to Charlie and Ella Ice.

She graduated from Fletcher High School and attended business college in Oklahoma City.

Athalie served in the United States Navy during WWII.

In 1948 she married Allison Byrd Cox.

Her proudest moments were the birth of their two sons, Allison and William and she was equally proud of their accomplishments.

She raised her family and managed a career as comptroller of a large hotel chain in Miami, Florida, where she was well respected by her peers.

Athalie returned to Oklahoma in 1996 and continued to pursue her career that she loved in accounting.

She enjoyed her association with Douglas Boulevard Methodist Church and Country Estates Baptist Church in Midwest City, Oklahoma.

Athalie is preceded in death by her parents and husband and is survived by her sons, Allison Byrd Cox, Jr. of Irvington, Alabama, and William Richard and wife, Julie Cox of Ramstien, Germany her grandchildren, Adam, Alex, Andrew, Nicholas, Katherine, and Christopher.

She will be remembered for her generosity, her strength of character, and her love and devotion to God and family. Athalie will be missed by her family and friends.

The funeral ceremony will be held on April 16, 2008, at 10:00 A.M., in the Bill Eisenhour Southeast Chapel at 5005 SE 29th St., Del City, OK.

Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery, Apache, OK on the same date.
