Jet Cecil Blackwell
November 13, 1916 ~ August 22, 2013


Jet Cecil Blackwell of Apache, Oklahoma was born November 13, 1916 in Soper, OK to Jim and Melvina [Cochener] Blackwell. He passed away August 22nd in Lawton, OK at the age of 96.

Jet was considered a ‘jack of all trades' because he could do anything he set his mind to. He ran the movie theatre in Apache during the late 50's and early 60's. He went to work for Charlie Stone who owned a plumbing and electrical business. Mr. Stone sold the business and Jet worked for the next couple of owners before going into business for himself. He worked tirelessly for many years helping the people of Apache with their plumbing and electrical needs.

Jet married Mildred Mozelle Blackwell on July 20, 1948 in Anadarko, OK. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and served his church faithfully. He was a Boy Scout leader for many years for Troop 353.

In his free time, Jet loved to go fishing and skipping rocks, or could be found working on an older car, showing a grandson a thing or two about fixing them. He enjoyed woodworking, and his shop is filled with furniture or other items he crafted over the years. Jet was an avid movie collector, and especially loved westerns.

He will be remembered by those who loved him for his sly wit and no-nonsense wisdom.

He is survived by: His wife, Mildred, of the home; 1 son and his wife - Bruce and Darwina Blackwell Oklahoma City, OK; 2 grandsons and their wives - Craig and Amber Blackwell Moore, OK and Shane and Lisa Blackwell Edmond, OK; 6 great-grandchildren - Rylee Blackwell, Jet Blackwell, Brianna Blackwell, Ethan Blackwell, Hunter Blackwell, Shalynn Blackwell; And one great-great granddaughter who will be born close to his birthday in November; 1 brother - James Blackwell Wright City, OK; 1 half-brother - David Robuck Sweet Home, OR.

He was preceded in death by: His parents; 1 brother - Dude Blackwell; 1 sister - Juanita "Babe" Rogers; 2 sons - Randy Blackwell, Mark Blackwell; 1 daughter - Vickey Matthias; 1 daughter-in-law - Sue Blackwell; 1 grandson - Travis Blackwell.

A memorial service will be held Monday, August 26th at 2:00 P.M. at the First United Methodist Church with Reverend Chris Stinnett officiating. The family will have a private committal at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Crews Funeral Home.

Mildred Mozelle Blackwell passed away on Sunday, December 16, 2018, in Tuttle, Oklahoma. She was born on July 20, 1930, to Cull Steven and Nettie Irene Blackwell in Boswell, Oklahoma.

A memorial service is scheduled for Thursday, December 27, 2018, at 2:00P.M. at the Apache First United Methodist Church with Rev. Anna Marie George officiating, assisted by Rev. Bud Jones. Arrangements have been entrusted to Crews Funeral Home.

ildred attended Apache schools. She married Jet Cecil Blackwell on July 20, 1948, in Anadarko. He preceded her in death on August 22, 2013, She was employed in a plumbing shop as at tax return preparer. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, and reading.

Survivors include her son, Bruce Blackwell and wife Darwina of Oklahoma City; son-in-law, Ray Matthias; grandchildren: Craig Blackwell and wife Amber of Moore and Shane Blackwell and wife Lisa of Yukon; great grandchildren: Jet Blackwell, Brianna Blackwell, Ethan Blackwell, Hunter Blackwell, Shalynn Blackwell, and Rylee Blackwell; and great great grandchild, Zoey Ramirez.

Mildred was preceded in death by her husband, Jet; parents; children: Mark Blackwell, Randy Blackwell, and Vickey Matthias; daughter-in-law, Sue Blackwell; and grandchild, Travis Blackwell.

APACHE Memorial service for Mark Keith Blackwell, 56, Apache, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the First United Methodist Church, Apache, under direction of Crews Funeral Home, Apache.

Mr. Blackwell died Saturday, Nov. 21, 2009, in Lawton.

Serving as honorary pallbearers:Albert Lacy, Ernie Nieto, Steve Moorehead, Rickey Nix, Kevin Kennedy, Johnny Pickens, and Roger Gallagher.

A private burial will follow at a later date.

He was born May 23, 1953, in Anadarko, to Jet Cecil and Mildred Mosell Blackwell. He married Debra Sue Edwards June 2, 1972, in Apache. He was self-employed as a plumber. Early in his working career, he worked as an auto mechanic. He enjoyed camping, fishing, and sports. He was also an Eagle Scout. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Apache.

Survivors include his wife, of the home; two sons: Addam Shane Blackwell, Yukon; and Marus Craig Blackwell, Moore; five grandchildren: Rylee Blackwell, Moore; Brianna Blackwell, Hooker; and Ethan Blackwell, Hunter Blackwell and Shalynn Blackwell, all of Elgin; a brother, Bruce Blackwell, Oklahoma City; and a sister, Vickey Matthias, Oklahoma City.

He was preceded in death by a son, Travis Lee Blackwell; and a brother, Randy Blackwell.

APACHE Funeral for Debra Sue Blackwell, 56, Apache, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at First United Methodist Church, Apache, with the Rev. Bud Jones officiating, under direction of Crews Funeral Home, Apache.

She died on Saturday, December 18, 2010, from injuries sustained from an automobile accident.

A private burial will take place at a later date.

She was born Janiary 4, 1954, in Anadarko, to William Byrle Edwards and Dollie Mae Kennedy Edwards. She graduated from Apache High School and attended classes at Cameron University. She married Mark Keith Blackwell on June 2, 1972, in Apache. She was employed by Mary Greeley Medical Center, Ames, Iowa, as a home-based medical billing coder. She also worked in the medical billing field early in her career in local hospitals. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends as well as spending time outdoors. She especially loved camping, fishing and canoeing.

Survivors include two sons: Addam Shane Blackwell, Yukon; and Marcus Craig Blackwell, Moore; five grandchildren: Rylee, Brianna, Ethan, Hunter, and Shalynn Blackwell; three sisters and their spouses: Judy and Bill Davis, Apache; Kathy and Rodney Claborn, Apache; and Sandy Heilaman, Apache.

She was preceded in death by a son, Travis Lee Blackwell, in 1995; her husband, Mark Keith Blackwell, in 2009; and her parents.

Honorary pallbearers are: Alberty Lacy, Ernie Nieto, Steve Moorehead, Rickey Nix, Kevin Kennedy, Johnny Pickens and Roger Gallagher.

Travis L. Blackwell Funeral Servies Held Here April 2

Funeral services for Travis L. Blackwell. 11, were held Sunday April 2, 1995 at 2:30 p.m. in the First United Methodist Church of Apache with the Rev Johnny DeYong, pastor officiating.

Travis was born October 11, 1983 in Lawton and left us Thursday, March 30, 1995 in a Lawton hospital after an 11½ year battle with the sever genetic disease of cystic fibrosis.

He was a fifth grader at Boone-Apache, and was an A-B honor roll student every year. In the third grad he was able to obtain the only perfect attendance in his class. He played T-Ball and Coach-Pitch baseball, and was manager of his fourth grade basketball and track teams.

Survivors include his parents, Mark and Sue Blackwell of the home; two brothers, Shane and Craig Blackwell, both of the home; his grandparents, Jet and Mildred Blackwell of Apache and Dollie Edwards of Cyril.

Burial was in Fairview Cemetery, Apache, with Crews Funeral Home in charge.
