Merle [Murray] Arndt

Mrs. Merle Arndt Dies in Anadarko

Burial at Apache. Services were in the Harvey chapel at 2:30 p.m. Sunday for Mrs. Merle Arndt, 64-year-old Carnegie woman, who died in an Anadarko hospital May 27. Burial was in the Apache cemetery under direction of the Harvey Funeral Home of Fort Cobb.

Mrs. Arndt was born in Saffordville, Kan., February 18, 1884. She came to Apache in 1901 and lived near there until 1942 when she moved to Carnegie where she has since made her home.

She was married to R.C. Arndt September 23, 1903, in El Reno. Mr. Arndt died in 1932. She was a member of the Methodist church.

Survivors include two sons, Roy H. Arndt, Modesto, Calif., and Herbert Arndt, Apache, and one daughter, Mrs. Lela L. Jantz of Carnegie. Also surviving are four brothers, one sister, 11 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Funeral service for Dwayne E.B. Arndt will be 1:00 P.M. Friday, May 14, 2021 at First Christian Church, Apache, Oklahoma with Rev. Bubba Clark, Pastor of Addington Baptist Church, Addington, Oklahoma and Rev. Matt Kelly, Pastor of Letitia Baptist Church, east of Lawton, Oklahoma officiating.

Burial with military honors will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Apache, Oklahoma under the direction of Becker-Rabon Funeral Home.

The family will greet friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Dwayne E.B. Arndt, 90, passed away Thursday, May 6, 2021 at his home east of Lawton, Oklahoma surrounded by his loving family. Dwayne was born an identical twin with brother, Dwight Arndt of Apache, Oklahoma on April 11, 1931 to Herbert and Ferne (Gregory) Arndt in Apache, Oklahoma. They graduated in 1949 from Apache High School.

After a short attempt in California to find employment with Dwight and a cousin, Dwayne requested of his parents to enroll him in school. He studied automotive mechanics at Southwestern State College in Weatherford, Oklahoma known today as Southwestern Oklahoma State University.

He joined the college marching band where he met his wife, Vita. They both became active in the Baptist Student Union morning services which led to a first date on a hayride.

After finishing college, he began his automotive career in Sayre, Oklahoma before joining Knox-Jensen Dodge in Lawton, Oklahoma.

Dwayne joined the Army on August 5, 1952 and was a truck mechanic in Germany during the Korean War until August 2, 1954.

Dwayne and Vita were married on August 21, 1954, at the First Baptist Church in Watonga, Oklahoma. They celebrated 66 years together in marriage. He was an initial member of the Lawton Gun Club – Clay Target Shooting Sports. He won many competitions and also won many turkeys and bacon for Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners. In 1981 he won the 16-yard championship at the Oklahoma State Shoot.

Dwayne joined Eddie Cordes Dodge in 1970 and was the service manager over the repair shop before semi-retiring and becoming an auto mechanic instructor at Great Plains Vo-Tech.

He retired to farming and raising cattle and working an oil well on his farm. He was happy doing everything he wanted including fishing in his pond, repairing vehicles in his shop, practicing clay target shooting and pumping oil.

Dwayne is survived by his wife of 66 years of the home, daughter Roxie Arndt of Lawton, son Chris Arndt and wife Lynne of Texas, granddaughter Megan Gilmore and husband Brock of Texas, grandsons Joseph and Curtis Brooks of Lawton, great grandsons, Tony and Seth Gilmore of Texas and Aiden Brooks of Lawton, brother-in-law, Jim Frank of Ohio, along with many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, twin brother, Dwight Arndt and wife Shirley of Apache, sister Norma Frank of Ohio, and nephew, Rick Arndt of Apache.

Dwight R.C. Arndt
April 11, 1931 ~ April 5, 2019


Dwight R.C. Arndt was born April 11, 1931 to Herbert and Ferne Arndt 3 miles north of Apache. He passed away peacefully April 5, 2019 at his home with his family by his side.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 9, 2019 at 2:00pm at the First Baptist Church officiated by Kerry Glasgow. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery under direction of Crews Funeral Home.

Dwight graduated from Apache High School in 1949. He attended SW State College for 2 years and served in the US Army for 2 years.

He and Shirley Crawford were married in 1961, living in Lawton, OK. In 1974, they built and moved into their home in Apache, OK, where Dwight operated his automotive repair shop. Dwight and Shirley sold their home and moved to Prince George, VA in 1985. They lived there until Shirley retired from Ft Lee, VA, civil service, at which time they moved back to their Apache home in 1995. Dwight retired from the automotive field and started raising cattle until 2016.

Dwight is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Shirley Arndt, of the home; his twin brother, Dwayne and wife Vita of Lawton; sons: Terry Arndt and wife Sally of Prince George, VA; Kent Arndt and wife Sheila of Apache; daughter, Debbie [Arndt] Emory and husband Donny of Disputanta, VA; many loved grandchildren: Tina Arndt, Reshelle Claborn, Jenny Arndt, Grant Arndt and wife Lindsey, Jamie Gonzalez and husband Antonio, Jessica Arndt, Jayne Hernandez and husband Ryan, Jason Arndt, Jessica Emory and Marcus Emory; great-grandkids: Dâ•.Aysiah Major, Olivia and Ethan Arndt, Ben Brown, Royce and Reyna Hernandez, Chaeli Long, Alejandro Gonzalez, Bailey and Jordan Claborn, Zavian, Emeric, Draius, Kieren, Eliyah, and Avaran Arndt, Jacob Emory, and William Vincent; and brother-in-law, Jim Frank of Cincinnati, OH.; along with many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Ferne Arndt, sister, Norma Lou (Arndt) Frank, and son, Ricky L Arndt

Shirley Dean Crawford Arndt

Shirley Dean [Crawford] Arndt was born November 27, 1936, to John and Lounita [Hudgins] Crawford in Carnegie, Oklahoma.

She passed away peacefully on February 11, 2020, at her home with her family by her side.

Funeral services will be held Saturday February 15, 2020, at 2:00pm at the First Baptist Church, officiated by Kerry Glasgow. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Crews Funeral Home.

Shirley graduated from Apache High School in 1954.

Shirley married Dwight Arndt on June 10, 1961, and lived in Lawton, raising three sons and a daughter.

Shirley began working civil service in 1968 with a short break when the children were young. During this break, she worked several years as the elementary school secretary where her children attended. She returned to civil service before 1974 when they built and moved into their home in Apache and Dwight ran his automotive shop and raised cattle. Dwight and Shirley sold their home and moved to Chester, VA in 1985. They lived there until 1995 when Shirley retired from Ft Lee, VA civil service and they moved back to their Apache home.

Dwight raised cattle until 2015.

Shirley enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

She was a very active and dedicated member of the Apache First Baptist Church and a cheerful member of the Apache Senior Nutrition Center.

She loved gardening, playing games, laughing, and mostly loving those around her.

She will be sorely missed by the many lives she touched throughout her life.

Shirley is survived by her sons: Terry Arndt and wife Sally of Prince George, VA, Kent Arndt and wife Sheila of Apache; daughter, Debbie [Arndt] Emory and husband Donny of Disputanta, VA; many loved grandchildren: Tina Arndt, Reshelle Claborn, Jenny Arndt, Grant Arndt and wife Lindsey, Jamie Gonzalez and husband Antonio, Jessica Cannon and husband Doyle, Jayne Hernandez and husband Ryan, Jason Arndt and wife Niusha, Jessica Emory and Marcus Emory; great-grandchldren: D’Aysiah Major, Olivia and Ethan Arndt, Ben Brown, Royce and Reyna Hernandez, Chaeli Long, Alejandro Gonzalez, Bailey and Jordan Claborn, Zavian, Emeric, Draius, Kieren, Eliyah, Avaran, and Zariyah Arndt; brother Shelby Crawford and wife Kaye of Anadarko; brothers-in-law Dwayne Arndt and wife Vita of Lawton, Jim Frank of Cincinnati, OH; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Lounita Crawford; husband, Dwight Arndt; and son, Rick L. Arndt.

December 29, 1957 ~ September 12, 2012


Ricky Lynn Arndt Of Apache, Oklahoma Was born December 29, 1957 in Amarillo, TX. He passed away at his home on September 12th at the age of 54.

Ricky received his Associates Degree in Electronics from Tulsa Technical Center, in Tulsa, OK. Making the Honor Roll, he also held a certificate from City College in Moore, OK for Computer Technology, hardware, software and networking information/PC Technician.

He worked the past eight years for Assurant, Co. as a Technical Support Representative from his home office in Apache. He maintained the highest cross-sales worldwide for Assurant. Ricky was a member of the First Baptist Church. He was also a member of the NRA. He enjoyed working in his yard and woodworking. He crafted wind chimes, which are proudly hanging at many of his familyâ•.s homes. He loved spending time with his dogs, Jasper and Lancy.

He is survived by: His parents - Dwight and Shirley Arndt Apache, OK, 2 Brothers and their wives - Terry and Sally Arndt Prince George, VA Kent and Sheila Arndt Apache, OK, 1 Sister and her husband - Debbie and Donny Emory Disputanta, VA, Many loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by: His grandparents - John and Lounita Crawford Herbert and Ferne Arndt.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 15th at 2:00 P.M. at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Rue Scott, officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Crews Funeral Home.
