Alvin Ray Rolen
March 5, 1931 ~ August 5, 2020


Alvin Ray Rolen was born March 5, 1931, in Minco, Oklahoma to Robert Edgar and Nellie Gay [Jones Rolen. He passed away on August 5, 2020, at his home in Austin, Texas at the age of 89.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, August 13, at 10:00 A.M. in the Celestial Gardens Cemetery in Cyril with Michael Ladymon officiating. Arrangements have been entrusted to Cyril Funeral Home.

Alvin joined the Army and served for two years at Fort Bliss, Texas. He married Shirley Joan Wright on May 6, 1954 at Gainesville, Texas. To this union two children were born – Linda Faye and David Wayne. He was employed as a truck driver hauling fluids in the oil patch.

He enjoyed going fishing and camping and visiting the coffee shop. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family.

Preceded in death by his parents, Alvin is survived by his wife, Shirley; daughter, Linda Faye and husband Emmett Duke Malvaney of Austin, Texas; son: David Wayne and wife Varina Gay [Bentley] Rolen of Iowa Park, Texas; 3 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; and 2 step great grandchildren.
