Billy Carroll Whitten Sr

Funeral for Billy Carroll Whitten Sr. 57, Cement, will be at 10:30 am Wednesday, Feb 4, 1987, in the Cement Church of Christ with the minister, Don Mulligan, and Adriane Smith of Sterling officiating

Mr. Whitten was born Nov 9, 1929, in Allen, and died Sunday, Feb 1, 1987, in the Chickasha hospital, following a lengthy illness.

He moved to Cement in 1946 and had lived there since that time. We was a retired oil field worker.

He married Loretta Hood on June 18, 1947, in Anadarko. He was a member of the Cement Church of Christ.

Survivors include his wife of the home; two daughters, Donna Sharp of Hartsborne and Regina McCracken of Cement; a son, Billy C. Whitten Jr of Cement' four sisters, Betty McDonald of Wichita Falls, Texas, Vernalene Oelberg of Louana, Iowa, Geraldine Fredericks and Sharon Kay Wheat, both of Allen; a brother, Vernon Don Whitten, of Duncan' and three grandchildren.

Burial will be in the Cement Cemetery under the direction of Robbins Funeral Home, Fletcher.

The body will lie in state at the Robbins Cement Chapel on Tuesday until service time.

Selma Loretta [Hood] Whitten

CEMENT - Funeral for Selma Loretta Whitten, 79, Cement, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Cement Church of Christ with the Rev. Adraine Smith, officiating.

Mrs. Whitten died Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2009 in McAlester.

Burial will be at Cement Cemetery under direction of Fletcher Funeral Home.

She was born March 2, 1930, on a farm near Fletcher to Ruby Willis Hood and Ali Dee Reece Hood. She attended school at Ceder Grove, Southview, and Cement High School. She married Billy Carrol Whitten, Sr. on June 18, 1947, in Anadarko. She traveled with him for 40 years, following the oilfield from Jamaica to Alaska, finally settling in Cement in the summer of 1971. She worked at the Hood's/Cement Food Center for many years, retiring to Lawton in 1996. She was a member of the Cement Church of Christ.

Survivors include two sisters: Sue Reel, Edmond; Delores Gillam, Lindsay; a son, Billy C. Whitten Jr., Lawton; two daughters: Regina Whitten, Lawton; and Donna Sharp, McAlester; three grandchildren: Sonya Sharp and John Sharp, both of McAlester; Chris Whitten, Austin, Texas; and an infant great-grandson, Kayson James Whitten, Austin.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, James Ray Hood; her husband; and a son, Harold Ray.

Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
