Eddie Longhat Jr.

Funeral services for Eddie Longhat Jr., 78, will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, August 7, 2008 at First United Methodist Church in Anadarko with Rev. Kathy Longhat officiating.

Wake services will be from 7 pm to 9 pm Wednesday, August 6th at Steverson Funeral Home Chapel in Anadarko.

Eddie was born December 29, 1929 in Binger to Eddie Longhat Sr. and Cora (Delaware) Longhat and died Monday August 4, 2008 at Comanche County Memorial Hospital in Lawton.

Eddie was raised in Binger and graduated from Binger High School. He enlisted in the U S Army where he served for 3 years and was stationed in Okinawa.

Following his discharge, he returned to Caddo County and lived in Anadarko where he worked at Gold Kist Peanut Company, drove a truck for Sequoyah Carpet Mills and later drove a cab. He enjoyed playing hand games and played with the Carnegie Eagles and the Wild Bunch Teams. He was a huge OU Sooners and Dallas Cowboy Fan. He liked going to casinos. He was a regular at Indian City Lanes where he enjoyed talking to his friends. Eddie was a member of the Caddo Tribe of Oklahoma.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son Dale Longhat and an infant boy; two daughters Frances and Edie Longhat; one grandson Clarence Haag; one granddaughter Lena Mae Lawrence-Longhat; and a sister Edwina Silverhorn.

Survivors include five sons Charles Longhat of Chickasha, Everett Longhat and wife Carole of Carnegie, Kevin Longhat and wife Vickie of Anadarko, Kendrick Longhat of Carnegie, Mickey Longhat and wife Kathy of Mountain View; three daughters Gala Yarbrough and husband Michael of Wewoka, Hattie Longhat of Anararko, and Sonya Longhat Hugar and husband Charles also of Anadarko; the mother of his children Lula Mae Longhat of Carnegie; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and one great great grandchild; one half sister Maxine Thomas Whiteagle of Anadarko; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends including his hand game buddies.
