Johnetta Kaye [Turney] Woodward
March 8, 1955 ~ August 24, 2012


ENID, Okla. - Graveside funeral service for Johnetta Kaye [Turney] Woodward, 57, of Snyder, will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, August 29, 2012, in Carnegie Cemetery, with Randy Turney officiating. Burial will be under the direction of Becker Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Snyder. The family will greet friends from 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Johnetta was born March 8, 1955, in Carnegie, Okla.

Mrs. Woodward died Friday, August 24, 2012, in Oklahoma City.

She grew up in Oklahoma and was a graduate of Wakita High School. She attended Northern Oklahoma College in Tonkawa and earned her bachelor's degree from Northwestern Oklahoma State University in Alva. She later earned her master's degree from Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford.

She taught school in Snyder, Okla., having taught second grade, and at the time of retirement, worked in the Title I Reading Program. She coached girls basketball for several years in Snyder.

She was a member of First Baptist Church of Snyder. She loved the outdoors, basketball, flip-flops and anything summer.

She is survived by her husband, Donnie Woodward, Snyder; a daughter and son-in-law, Lynsey Don and Wayne Cox, Lawton; three stepchildren and their spouses, Todd and Renée Woodward, Aledo, Texas, Shaun and Mike Geiger, Snyder, and Chad and Kristi Woodward, Frisco, Texas; two sisters and their husbands, Darla and David Quigley, Enid, and LaTeresa and Sequoyah Anderson, Oklahoma City; two brothers and their spouses, Randy and Robyn Turney, Cherokee, Okla., and Rod and Linda Turney, Henderson, Nev.; her father and stepmother, Johnny and Leanna Turney, Wakita; mother, Darlene Turney, Wakita; eight grandchildren, Alexsa Woodward, Bryce Geiger and wife Sophia, Trevor Geiger, Seth Geiger, Darah Lang and husband Josh, Madison Geiger, Elijah Woodward and Ethan Woodward; nieces and nephews, Tasha and Adam Diesselhorst, Tana Turney, Tye and Taylor Turney, Katie Quigley, Brock Turney and Shelby Anderson; two great-nieces, Tatem and Mckenna Turney; great-nephew, Cory Quigley; special friend, Kindra Harris and husband Trey.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Eddie and Ollie Williams; paternal grandparents, Earl and Nettie Turney; a nephew, Chet Quigley; and her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Roy and Beulah Woodward.

Memorial contributions may be made to a scholarship fund, which will help a college student in need of financial assistance. Monies may be sent to Snyder Public Schools, 718 E. Street, Snyder OK 73566.
