© Carnegie Herald Carnegie, Oklahoma Wednesday, June 15, 1955 Frederick Edwin Swarts Fred Swarts Rites Christian Church Wednesday at 2:30 Fred Swarts, 77, pioneer Carnegie resident, died at his home north of the city limits at 3:45 a.m. Tuesday after an illness of four months. He had been bedfast two weeks. He underwent an operation in an Oklahoma city hospital three weeks ago. Services were at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Christian church with Rev. Van D. Upton, pastor, officiating. Arrangements were in charge of the pitcher Funeral Home and burial was in the Carnegie cemetery. Frederick Edwin Swarts was born near Allendale, Mo., Nov. 2, 1877. His early youth was spent in Missouri and Iowa. He was married to Florence Ethel Woods Aug. 28, 1904 in Des Moines. The family moved to Carnegie in April, 1909. Swarts was employed by the Carnegie Water Power Co., by Cole's hardware and for a number of years worked for the city, at one time serving as marshal. Since 1929 he has farmed and operated a dairy north of the city. Survivors include the wife, Mrs. Florence Swarts, of the home; two daughters, Mrs. Harry Hibbard, Sapulpa, and Mrs. Margaret English, Anadarko; one son, Russell sr., Carnegie, and one brother, W.C. Swarts, Cement. also surviving are five grandsons, 1st. Lt. Russell Swarts Jr., Patrick Air Force Base, Florida; Richard and Fred English, Anadarko; Bill Parnell, Sapulpa, and Bob Swarts, Carnegie. Relatives besides the family here from a distance included Mrs. Ruby Rollins and daughter Rosamond, Miss Marjorie Ewing and Mrs. J.B. Parrott, Amarillo; Mr. and Mrs. H.O. Bussy, Oklahoma City and Mr. and Mrs. Bill Houseworth, Irving, Tex. Bearers for the funeral were Earl Kelly, Albert Kelly, J.C. Loyd, Bonnie Netherton, Joe Hegner and Sam Eads. |
© Carnegie Herald Carnegie, Oklahoma Wednesday, January 7, 1981 Florence "Ethel" [Woods] Swarts Ethel Swarts dead at 92 Services were held Jan. 3 in the First Christian Church at Carnegie for Florence Ethel Swarts, 92, of Carnegie. The Rev. Gilbert Hughes, pastor of the church, officiated. Burial was in the Carnegie cemetery under the direction of the Pitcher Funeral home of Carnegie. Mrs. Swarts died Jan. 1 in the Anadarko Municipal Hospital. She was born Jan. 28, 1888 in Iowa. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Carnegie and a longtime Carnegie resident. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Swarts, and a son, Russell. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Goldia Hibbard and Mrs. Margaret English, both of Anadarko, and five grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. |
© Carnegie Herald Carnegie, Oklahoma Wednesday, Russell E. Swarts Sr Swarts Rites On Saturday Funeral services for Russell E. Swarts, Sr., 67, retired Carnegie fire chief, were held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, may 10, in the First Christian church with Rev. Ward Botts of Enid, former pastor, officiating. Rev. Bob Williams, pastor of the Church of the Nazarene, assisted. Swarts died Thursday, May 8, in the Carnegie Municipal Hospital. He was born March 5, 1908 in Oklahoma, and moved to Carnegie with his parents in 1909. He joined the Carnegie Fire Department in 1943, and served as fire chief from 1953 to 1963. He was a retired mechanic and a member of the First Christian church. Survivors include his wife, Ora of the home; two sons, Russell, Jr. of Oklahoma City and Bob of San Antonio; his mother, Mrs. Fred Swarts of Carnegie; two sisters, Goldia Hibbard and Margaret English of Anadarko; and five grandchildren, Suzanne, mark and Libby Swarts of Oklahoma, Robert and Scott Swarts of San Antonio. |
© Carnegie Herald Carnegie, Oklahoma Wednesday, August 29, 1979 Ora M. [Fodge] Swarts Ora Swarts, 69, Dies August 27 Ora Swarts, 69, died Aug. 27 in an Oklahoma City hospital. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, Aug. 30 at 2 p.m. at the First Christian Church in Carnegie with Rev. Gilbert Hughes officiating. Burial will be in the Carnegie Cemetery under the direction of the Pitcher Funeral Home. Mrs. Swarts, who was born Feb. 16, 1910 at Fort Towson, Oklahoma, was a member of the Carnegie Christian Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Russel, on May 8, 1975. Survivors include two sons, Russell, Jr. of Oklahoma City and Bob of Annandale, Virginia; one brother, W.M. Fodge of Walport, Oregon; and five grandchildren. |
