© Carnegie Herald Carnegie, Oklahoma August 3, 1964 William R. Smith Funeral Services For W.R. Smith Will Be Thursday The body of William R. Smith was found in his room at the Giles apartments on South Broadway early Wednesday morning by John Pitt, a tenant in an adjoining room. Smith apparently died of natural causes in his sleep sometime around midnight Tuesday. He was a member of the Carnegie American Legion Post and served in World War I. He served with the 142nd Regiment of the 30th division as No. 1 gunner in the machine gun company. Smith is survived by his brother, M.O. Smith of Red Bluff, Calif., two sisters, Mrs. Mary Palmer of Alex, Okla., and Mrs. Sarah Nelson. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 Thursday morning in Pitcher Chapel. |
