© Carnegie Herald Carnegie, Oklahoma May 9, 2001 Catherine Marie [Buchanan] Smith Funeral services for Catherine Smith, 66, of Carnegie were held Monday, May 7, 2001 at 2:00 p.m. at the Church of the Nazarene in Carnegie with Rev. Bob Williams of Oklahoma City and Rev. Jerry Tate, pastor officiating. Catherine was born August 18, 1934 in Cowden to James A. and Ollie [Bailes] Buchanan and died Friday, May 4, 2001 in a Lawton Hospital after a brief illness. She grew up in the Alfalfa and Cowden areas and graduated from Carnegie High School. She married Tommy Jennings Smith and he preceded her in death on October 8, 1976. She then married Billie J. Smith, Sr. on February 14, 1985 in Carnegie. She was a member of the Nazarene Church and had lived in Carnegie most of her life. She is survived by her husband, Billie J., Sr. of the home; one son, Tom Jennings Smith, Jr. of Okmulgee; two daughters, Catrene Jo Perkins and K Pewamo, both of Okmulgee; three stepsons, Billie J. Smith, Jr. of Carnegie, Robert Smith of North Carolina, Jimmie Smith of Muldrow; one stepdaughter, Dana Spencer of Muldrow; six grandchildren; four great grandchildren; one brother, Everett Buchanan of Chickasha; five sisters, May Clark of Okmulgee, Rose Rhoads of Pittsbury, California, Helen Turney of Martinez, California, Peggy Christian and Mary Dodson both of Mountain View. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Tommy Jennings Smith and two brothers. Burial was in the Carnegie Cemetery under the direction of the Pitcher-Hackney Funeral Home in Carnegie. |
