© Carnegie Herald Carnegie, Oklahoma Wednesday, Aug. 25, 1943 Franklin Edward Smith Services Saturday For Franklin Edward Smith Funeral services for Franklin E. Smith were held at the First Methodist church here Saturday morning at 10 o'clock by Rev. W.G. Beasley, assisted by Rev. O.W. Eudaley, with burial in the Carnegie cemetery. Smith died suddenly Thursday morning at his home in Apache of a heart attack. He was married to Miss Delia Jordon December 23, 1894 near Trumbul, Texas and to this union four children were born, Mrs. J.B. Harrison of this place, Fred D. of Oklahoma City, Clarence A. of Quanah, Texas, and Mrs. W.R. Carley of Medicine Park. They homesteaded in Greer county, near Gould,where his wife died October 28, 1903. He married Mahaley Hensley of Gould in 1921 and to this union Franklin Edward of Sioux City, S. Dak. was born. Franklin Edward Smith was born October 9, 1871 in Tipper county, Miss. and died August 19, 1943 at the age of 71 years, 10 months and 10 days. He had lived in and around Carnegie for 25 years, making his home in Apache for four or five months prior to his death. He was converted and joined the Methodist church in early life. Survivors include his wife of the home, three sons, Fred D., Clarence A. and Franklin Edward; two daughters, Mrs. W.R. Carley and Mrs. J.B. Harrison; a brother, C.L. Smith of Meridian, Miss., and a sister, Mrs. Ella Cross of Ballinger, Texas; seven grandchildren and two great grandsons, other relatives and a host of friends. |
