Former Alden Woman Dies

Funeral services for Mrs. Edward Schmidt, 62, of Weatherford, a former resident of the Carnegie area, were held at 2 p.m. last Saturday at Lockstone Funeral chapel in Weatherford. Rev. Bob Williams, pastor of the Carnegie Church of the Nazarene, officiated. Services were concluded in the Carnegie Cemetery.

Mrs, Schmidt died March 11, at her home following a lengthy illness.

She was born at Alden December 2, 1912. She attended grade school at Mountain Home and high school at Alden. She lived with her uncle. She was a member of the Presbyterian church.

She was married to Edward H. Schmidt March 15, 1935. They lived at Cleveland, Okla. before moving to Clovis, New Mexico. They moved back to Alden in 1942 and lived there until 1968 when they moved to Weatherford.

She is survived by her husband of the home; three daughters, Mrs. Max Wright of Adams, Okla., Mrs. Thomas B. Ford of Oklahoma City, and Miss Brenda Kay Schmidt of Houston, Tex.; two sons, Ronald Edward of Norman, and Marvin Henry, Oklahoma City; eight grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Esther Jolly of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and four brothers, Charles Calder, Ponca City, Roland Calder of Carnegie, O.T. Calder, Apache and Earl Calder of Gilbert, Ariz.

Alfred J. Schmidt

Funeral services for Alfred J. Schmidt, 80, of Carnegie were held Friday, November 29, 1996 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Arthur Blount officiating.

Alfred was born December 6, 1915 south of Carnegie to John B. and Elizabeth [Nightingale] Schmidt and died Tuesday, November 26, 1996 after a sudden illness.

He married Melba Skinner on July 26, 1941 in Hobart.

He was a farmer and rancher and custom harvested for 37 years. He had lived in the Carnegie area all of his life.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Carnegie.

He is survived by his wife, Melba of the home; one son and daughter-in-law, Darrell and Phyllis Schmidt of Carnegie; two daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Danny Sharry of Eakly, Brenda and Bob Moore of Carnegie; eight grandchildren, Jay Schmidt and Kimberly Thompson, Monty and Marty Sharry, Misty, Brooke, Shana and Chase Moore; six great grandchildren; two sisters, Dora Schullenberger of Visilia, California and Carrie Jantz of Fairview and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and two sisters.

Burial was in the Carnegie cemetery under the direction of the Pitcher-Hackney Funeral Home.

Melba Rae [Skinner] Schmidt

Funeral services for Melba Rae [Skinner] Schmidt, 86, of Carnegie were held 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 26, 2008 at the First Baptist Church in Carnegie with Rev. Arthur Blount officiating.

Melba Was born July 23, 1922 at William and Bessie Mae [Stubblefield] Skinner near Ardmore and died Sunday, December 21, 2008 at St. Anthony Hospital in Oklahoma City.

Melba was united in marriage to Alfred J. Schmidt on July 26, 1941 in Hobart. They made their home south of Carnegie where they farmed and later moved into Carnegie where they raised their family. They did custom harvesting for 35 years.

Melba was a member of the First Baptist Church in Carnegie.

She loved to cook and worked in the church kitchen for many years. She had many friends and enjoyed going on church trips.

She loved flowers and hummingbirds. Most of all she loved her family and enjoyed doing things with her grandchildren. She was a loving mother and grandmother and a best friend to them. She has many nieces and nephews that she loved.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; three brothers, Melvin, Alvin and Billy; three sisters, Annie, Francis and Hazel.

She is survived by one son, Darrell Schmidt and wife, Phyllis of Carnegie; two daughters, Linda Sharry and husband, Danny of Eakly and Brenda Moore and husband, Bobby of Carnegie; eight grandchildren, Monty Sharry and wife, Sharla of Eakly, Marty Sharry and wife, Paula of Eakly, Kim Thompson and husband, James of Ardmore, Jay Schmidt of Carnegie, Misty Stuteville and husband Jason of Carnegie, Brooke Moore and Shaun Davis of Carnegie, Shana Whitley and husband, Chris of Carnegie and Chase Moore of Carnegie; 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; one sister, Wanda Startz and husband, Eldrige of Amarillo, Texas; sister-in-law, Loneta Skinner of Carnegie.

Burial was in Carnegie Cemetery under the direction of Ray & Martha's Funeral Home of Carnegie.

Betty Louise Rhoades Schmidt

Graveside services for Louise Schmidt, 78, longtime Carnegie resident will be held Wednesday, August 24, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at the Carnegie Cemetery with Dr. Arthur Blount officiating.

Louise was born July 21, 1927 in Alfalfa to Luther and Irene [Bennett] Rhoades and died Monday, August 22, 2005 at her home.

She married Harvey Schmidt on January 23, 1948 in Wichita Falls, Texas. He preceded her in death in May 1988. She was a homemaker and lived in Caddo County all of her life.

She is survived by one daughter, Judy and her husband Kenneth Wall of Fort Cobb; on son, Harvey Wesley Schmidt of Verden; one daughter-in-law, Kelley Evans of Lindsay; two grandchildren, Zachery Montana Schmidt and Zaven Laredo Schmidt, both of Lindsay; one sister, Lola Rogers of Chickasha; two nephews, Arnold McDaniel of San Diego, California and Joe McDaniel of Chickasha; three nieces, Barbara Hewes and Brenda Nunley, both of Lindsay and Peggy Unruh of Lahoma; numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and one son, Robert James Schmidt.

Services were under the direction of Ray and Martha's Funeral Home in Carnegie.

Darrell Schmidt

CARNEGIE - Darrell Schmidt, 69, of Carnegie, Okla., passed away Friday, February 10, 2012. He was born June 8, 1942, to Alfred J. and Melba Rae (Skinner) Schmidt in Carnegie, Okla.

Darrell was a 1960 Carnegie High School graduate. He received a scholarship in Industrial Arts, at Southwestern Oklahoma State University.

Darrell married his best friend and the love of his life, Phyllis Clark, October 20, 1962, in Anadarko, Okla. He lived in Ardmore, Okla., from 1979-1989 and moved back to Carnegie where he farmed south of town.

Darrell enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was also a history buff and could fix anything. His favorite college football team was the Oklahoma Sooners.

Darrell was a kind and loving person. He adored his children and grandchildren. He is missed greatly by his family and friends.

Survivors include his wife, Phyllis Schmidt of the home; one daughter, Kimberly Thompson and husband, James, Ardmore, Okla.; one son, Jay Schmidt, Carnegie, Okla.; four grandchildren, Camille Thompson, Stillwater, Okla., Chloe' Thompson, Ardmore, Okla., Jayson Schmidt, Carnegie, Okla., and Alle Schmidt, Ardmore, Okla.; two sisters, Linda Sharry and husband, Danny, Eakly, Okla., and Brenda Moore and husband, Bobby, Carnegie, Okla.; double first cousin, Dennis Skinner, Carnegie, Okla.; numerous nieces and nephews; and a special friend and running buddy, Jim Gage, Carnegie, Okla.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Melba Schmidt

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today at the First Baptist Church in Carnegie with the Rev. Chip Perkins officiating. Burial will follow at the Carnegie Cemetery, under the direction of Ray & Martha's Funeral Home,

Robert James Schmidt

Graveside Rites Held For Infant

Graveside rites for the infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Schmidt were held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Carnegie cemetery. Rev. Bob Williams, Church of the Nazarene pastor, officiated.

Robert James Schmidt was born at 9 a.m. Wednesday, December 9, at a Clinton hospital. The infant, born with an enlarged heart, lived an hour.

He is survived by his parents; one sister, Judy Gayle; a brother, Harvey Wesley; two grandmothers, Mrs. Irene Rhodes and Mrs. Minnie Schmidt, all of Carnegie, and other relatives.
