Miss Ila Mae Kelly Claimed By Death

Funeral services for Ila Mae Kelly, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A.M. Kelly of this place, were held at the Methodist church at 3 p.m. Wednesday following her death at a Chickasha hospital Monday, Feb. 23. Rev. H.E. Snodgrass, Methodist pastor of the Epworth Methodist church of Chickasha, conducted the services, Rev. Bowman delivering the sermon.

Interment was made in the Carnegie cemetery under the auspices of the Order of Eastern Star.

Pitcher's Funeral Home had charge of the funeral arrangements. A large concourse of friends attended the services and it was estimated that a third of the people were unable to get into the church.

Altho forced to wage an unequal struggle for health since a small child, Ila Mae developed into one of the most lovable characters in the community. Cheerful and always observant of the wishes and pleasures of others, she endeared herself to all with whom she came in contact.

She was among the leaders of her classes during her school days, being for three years secretary-treasurer of her high school class with which she graduated in 1926. During her school days she was an active member of the Rainbow Girls and later became a member of the Order of Eastern Star of which organization she was treasurer at the time of her death. She had recently been chosen co-sponsor of the local chapter of Camp Fire Girls.

A devoted Christian and a member of the Methodist church, her eager participation in any part of the church work has been an inspiration to her associates.

Ila Mae Kelly was born June 4, 1908 at Fort Cobb and died Monday, Feb. 23, 1931, at Chickasha, aged 22 years, 8 months and 19 days and had spent practically her entire life in this county.
