Jacob Fanning
1853 ~ 1918


Jacob Fanning died suddenly Friday at 12:30 p.m. of heart failure. He was a large man and while aged, apparently was in good health. He has been a resident of Carnegie for nine years and his death was a shock to his many friends.

Funeral services were conducted at the Methodist church, South by Rev. Monk of Alfalfa Sunday at 2:30 p.m., and the body was interred in the Carnegie cemetery.

Jacob Fanning was born April 16, 1853 in Morgan county, Ill., died February 1, 1918, aged 64 years, 9 months and 15 days. He was married to Aleatha Swain July 4, 1876. To this union nine children were born, three girls and six boys, eight of whom are still living. Three sons and one daughter are residents of Carnegie.

Two sons from the eastern part of the state, a son from Indiana, a daughter from Iowa, three sisters from Illinois and a sister from Kansas attended the funeral.
