Ellis A. "Gus" Bryant
1937 ~ 2009


CARNEGIE - Funeral for Ellis A. "Gus" Bryant, 71, Carnegie, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church, Carnegie.

Mr. Bryant died Friday, May 29, 2009.

Burial will be in Carnegie Cemetery under direction of Ray & Martha's Funeral Home, Carnegie.

He was born Dec. 23, 1937, three miles east of Carnegie to George W. and Bobbi Liss Kelly Bryant.

He attended Cedar Dale country school through the eighth grade and graduted from Carnegie High School in 1955.

He served in the Air Force Reserves.

He married Shirley Ann Wanzor on Nov. 24, 1960, in Carneige.

They moved to Texas where he began his career in the telecommunications industry. He worked for AT&T and the U. S. government as a civil servant. In 1993, after 33 years, he retired and started his own consulting business.

He was a member of First Baptist Church of Lawton.

Survivors include his wife, of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Brad and Renee, Weatherford; and Brent and Lori, Mustang; four grandchildren: Blaine, Kalie, Courtney and Cooper; a sister, Sue Jones, Carnegie; three brothers: George Bryant and Roy Bryant, both of Lawton; and Bobby Leon Bryant, San Marcos, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: Ernest Bryant and Bill Bryant: three sisters: Becky Barker, Gertrude Henneke and Oleta Wallis.
