Funeral Services For D. Brown Held Here Sunday

Funeral services for D. Brown, pioneer Carnegie resident, were held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the First Methodist church with Rev. Bob Williams, Church of the Nazarene pastor, officiating. Burial was in the Carnegie cemetery with Pitcher Funeral Home in charge. Brown died Friday at Broadlawn Manor in Purcell where he had been a resident the past year. He had been in failing health for sometime.

He was born December 17, 1883, at Potts Camp, Miss. He moved to Mountain View in 1899 and was married to Miss Nancy Clark Lisk of Chickasha on May 7, 1906. One daughter, Velma, was born to them. In 1913, the family moved to Carnegie where he continued to reside after the death of his wife on May 8, 1966. He was a livestock buyer here for many years.

He is survived by the daughter, Mrs. S.G. Truitt of Lexington, Okla.; a granddaughter, Mrs. Robert Bower of Chickasha; one brother, Claude Brown of Duke; two sisters, Mrs. John M. Kelley of Carnegie, and Mrs. Minnie Freels of Memphis, Tenn.

Funeral Services For Mrs. Brown Will Be Friday

Mrs. D.C. Brown, a pioneer resident of Carnegie hospital where she had been a patient the past week.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the First Methodist church with Rev. Omer Methodist church with Rev. Omer Delk and Rev. Elson Hargrove, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the Carnegie cemetery with Pitcher Funeral Home in charge. Mrs. Brown had been in failing health for many years.

Nancy Clark Lisk was born March 27, 1879, at Hope, Ark., to James T. and Mary Elizabeth Lisk. She was married to D.C. Brown May 7, 1906, at Chickasha. They established a home at Mountain View and in 1912 came to Carnegie where they have lived since. One daughter, Velma, was born to them.

Mrs. Brown had been a member of the Carnegie chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star and was a member of the Methodist church.

She is survived by the husband of the home at 509 South Carnegie Ave.; the daughter, Mrs. S.G. Truitt of Lexington, Okla.; one granddaughter, Mrs. Robert Bowers of Chickasha; one brother, J.S. Lisk of Rialto, Calif.; several nephews and nieces including Mrs. Ed Smith of Fort Cobb.
