January 2017 Floy Leola "Mint" [Leisure] Boyd 1914 ~ 2017 Floy Leola Mint Boyd - 102 Earth's loss was heaven's gain in the early morning hours of Wednesday, January 4, 2017. Floy Boyd was born on December 23 1914 in Beaver County Oklahoma to Charlie and Jessie [Schoonover] Leisure. Having lived in parts of Texas and Oklahoma as a child and young adult, Floy settled in Carnegie where she would reside the rest of her life. Floy was married in 1930 to Robert T. Smith. He preceded her in death in 1941. This marriage was blessed with three children and 12 grandchildren. In 1944 Floy married Earl Boyd. He preceded her in death in 1984. This union was blessed with one child and three grandchildren. Throughout many years of labor Mrs. Boyd worked in restaurants and for awhile the local nursing home, however the majority of her life was spent being a homemaker, housewife, mother, and grandmother. Floy always, as she would say, "had an iron in the fire" whether it be a garment to make, a quilt to piece or one in the frame, crocheting, cooking, working in her yard and flower beds, or garden, going to church,and in later years her plastic canvas work; but she would gladly pause from her handy work to go fishing anytime. Floy was of the Christian faith and was a member of the Carnegie Church of the Nazarene for many years. Floy was preceded in death by her parents, 5 brothers, 2 sisters, 2 sons, and 4 grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends. Left to mourn the passing of this family matriarch are sons Bill Smith and Dean Boyd both of Carnegie, 15 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and 9 great - great grandchildren. Funeral services for Floy will be Friday, January 6, 2017 at 2:00 PM at Ray & Martha's Funeral Home, Carnegie, Oklahoma. Visitation will be Thursday, January 5, 2017 9:00 AM - 8:00 PM at Ray & Martha's Funeral Home in Carnegie, Oklahoma.
