J.W. Bond Dies Early Wednesday; Services To Be Thursday, 2:30

Services for J.W. Bond who died at 4:30 a.m. Wednesday will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday in the Baptist church and burial will be in the Carnegie cemetery with the Pitcher Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Rev. C.N. Price will preach the funeral sermon.

John William Bond was born at Devina, Medina county, Texas, January 22, 1878.

He was married to Georgia Sadler November 2, 1904, in Frio county, Texas. They came to Oklahoma in 1909 and located in the Prairie Lone community northeast of Carnegie where Mr. Bond farmed during his active life. Mr. and Mrs. Bond moved to Carnegie in March, 1941, and have made their home here since.

He joined the Baptist church at Antioch, Texas, in 1908, and was a member of the Baptist church here at the time of his death.

Survivors are the wife, Mrs. Georgie Bond, three sons, Wayne, Wade and Waymond, all of Carnegie; four daughters, Mrs. W.D. Johnson, Oklahoma City; Mrs. Gaylord Smith and Mrs. Gilbert L. Helm, Roscoe, Calif., and Mrs. John E. Knowles of Los Angeles, and three half brothers, I.S. Tilley of Carnegie, Neal B. Tilley, Tulsa, and Bigum Tilley, Childress, Texas.

The daughters were here from California at the time of their father's death and the brothers are expected here for the funeral services.

Funeral Services Set Thursday For Mrs. J.W. Bond

Funeral services for Mrs. J.W. Bond will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the First Baptist church with Rev. Jimmy Weston, pastor, officiating. Interment will be in the Carnegie cemetery with the Fort Cobb Funeral Home in charge.

Mrs. Bond died about 8:30 p.m. Monday at her home in the west part of town after being ill for two months. She had been critical for some time before her death.

Georgia Marjorie Sadler was born to George W. and Sarah Elizabeth Sadler on February 4, 1880, at Big Foot, Texas. She was married at Big Foot on November 22, 1904, to John William Bond. They came to Caddo county in 1909, establishing a home near Fort Cobb. Her husband preceded her in death October 2, 1946. She was also preceded by a son in 1940.

She had been a member of the Baptist church since she was 16 years of age and a member of the local church while living. here.

Surviving her are three sons, Wade Bond of Fort Cobb, Waymound of Cortez, Colo., and Wayne of Carnegie; four daughters, Mrs. Winnie Jackson, Oklahoma City, Mrs. Elane Smith and Mrs. Connie Helm of Sun Valley, Calif.; and Mrs. Armeta Knowles of North Hollywood, Calif.; 23 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and one brother, Andy Sadler of Big Foot.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Walter and Eldon Bond, and Glenn Dodd, Jerald Baker, Bill Anderson and Dean Hatfield.

John Raymond Bond
1919 ~ 1940


Services Friday For Raymond Bond

John Raymond Bond was born October 1, 1919 and passed away February 13, 1940 at the age of 20 years, 4 months and 12 days. He had been ill for about a month but was not considered in a serious condition until about two days before he died suddenly Tuesday morning.

He was born and reared in the Prairie Lone community northwest of Fort Cobb. He had spent the past year in California but was at home with his parents at the time of his death.

Funeral services were held Friday at 2:00 p.m. at the Carnegie Methodist church by Rev. G.C. Howard, pastor of the First Baptist church, of Carnegie. Burial was in the Carnegie cemetery under direction of the Harvey Funeral Home of Fort Cobb. Raymond became a member of the First Baptist church March 2, 1930.

He is survived by his mother and father, Mr. and Mrs. J.W. Bond; four sisters, Mrs. W.D. Johnson, Mountain View; Mrs. Gilbert Helm, Imperial, Calif.; Mrs. Gaylord B. Smith, Buttonwillow, Calif.; and Miss Armetta Bond, at home. Also three brothers, Wayne Bond, Carnegie; Waymond and Wade Bond of Holtville, Calif. and six nieces and four nephews.

He also has two uncles, N.B. Tilley of Tulsa and I.S. Tilley of Fort Cobb. All were present except Mrs. Gaylord Smith. There are also many other near relatives and a host of friends. Pall bearers were Kenneth and Floyd Merrit, J.C. Samples, Andrew Javckson, Bert Clay and Alton Nix.
