James Madison Arthur
1909 ~ 2001


Funeral services for James Arthur, 91, of Carnegie were held Saturday, April 7, 2001 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Christian Church in Carnegie with Dr. Richard Tinker officiating.

James was born May 28, 1909 in Texas to James Allen and Lilly Arthur and died April 3, 2001 at Comanche County Memorial Hospital in Lawton.

He married Frances Henderson on May 23, 1937 in Fort Cobb.

He was a farmer and rancher who lived most of his life in Carnegie. He managed the Farmer's Co-op and served on the school and hospital boards. He was a member of the First christian Church and served as an elder for nearly 50 years.

He is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Anita Faye and Delmar Jepsen of Carnegie; two grandchildren and spouses, Robert and Sonya Whitmire of Spring, Texas and Dale and Karlyn Jones of Philadelphia, PA; five great grandchildren, Latoya and Bill Whitmire and Morgan, Madison and Mikenna Jones; one sister, Doris Passmore of Frederick.

he was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Frances, one sister, Gladys Robinson and one brother Fred Arthur.

Burial was in the Carnegie Cemetery under the direction of the pitcher-Hackney Funeral Home in Carnegie.
