Funeral Services For J.E. Anderson Are Held Tuesday

Funeral services for Joseph E. Anderson, who died at 1 p.m. Monday after a brief critical illness, were held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday from the First Methodist church. Rev. Roy Rowlan, pastor, and Rev. Walter Williams, minister of the Primitive Baptist church, officiated.

Mr. Anderson who lived on the Paul Bittle farm seven miles north of Carnegie, took critically ill Sunday. He was brought to the home of his brother, Jeff Anderson here Sunday afternoon, then was taken to the Carnegie hospital at 8:30 Sunday night. he died at 1 p.m. Monday. He was 72 years of age.

He had been a resident of Carnegie and community since 1908. He was a member of the city's fire department at one time, and was engaged in the dray business here for several years. He was a member of the IOOF lodge and the Methodist church.

Born at Center, Ala., on March 30, 1883, Mr. Anderson was 10 years old when he moved with his parents to Texas, where he lived. He was married to Miss Birdie Warren at Monkstown, Texas, in 1908, the year he moved to the Alfalfa community.

Surviving are five sisters, Mrs. Amanda Anthony, of Anadarko; Mrs. Estelle Lee Burge, Carnegie; Mrs. Mary A. Burge, Shawnee; Mrs. Nettie Pritchard, Phoenix, Ariz.; and Mrs. Cynthia Martin, Lawton; three brothers; William Anderson, Tulare, Calif.; Thomas Jefferson, Carnegie, and Edward Anderson, of Oklahoma City.

Burial was made at the Carnegie cemetery, with the Pitcher Funeral Home in charge.
