A. Lincoln "Link" Moore
February 18, 1864 ~ January 8, 1943


Link Moore

Pioneer County attended final rites Sunday for A.L. "Link" Moore, pioneer resident of this community who died Friday at Apache after a brief illness. He was 78 years old.

Services were held at the First Christian church by T.T. Brown, pastor, and burial was made in the Alden cemetery under the direction of the Pitcher Funeral Home. The Masonic lodge conducted the special ceremony at the grave.

He pioneered in Kansas and then came to this state and located 13 miles south of Carnegie after the opening in 1901.

He has been treasurer of the local Masonic lodge for years and was proud that his seven sons were members of the order and that his wife and daughter were members of the Eastern star.

A. Lincoln Moore was born February 18, 1864 in Suez, Ill and moved to Kansas in early life.

He was married to Miss Cora Belle Gleason on February 7, 1884 in Viola, Kansas and to them a daughter and seven sons were born, all of whom are living and include: Mrs, Ben Good, Apache; Sample of Shawnee; Levi Ba. of Muldrow; John Bert and Floyd of Apache; an Guy and Fazel of Carnegie. Other survivors include 29 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and two sisters, Mrs. Levia Yates, Metz, Mo. and Mrs. Jessie Peters of Dewitt, Iowa. Mrs. Moore died July 9, 1941.

Final Rites Friday For Mrs. A.L. Moore

Funeral services will be held at the First Christian church at 3:00 p.m. Friday for Mrs. A.L. Moore, who died at 12:30 Wednesday at her home on east Main Street after an illness of several weeks.

Rev. T.T. Brown, pastor, will conduct the service. The Pitcher Funeral home will be in charge of arrangements and burial will be in the Alden cemetery.

One of the pioneer mothers of the community south of town, Mrs. Moore had lived in the Carnegie territory since she and Mr. Moore settled on their farm twelve miles south in 1902.

They have been living in town the past few months.

For years she had been a member of the Eastern Star and was a member of the Christian church.

Cora B. Gleason was born September 8, 1864 in Tioga county, Pa.

Her parents moved to western Kansas when she was small and she grew to womanhood in the Sunflower state.

She was married to A. Lincoln Moore February 7, 1884 at Wichita, Kansas. To them eight children were born, all of whom are living.

Survivors include her husband of this place; her daughter, Mrs. Anna Good of Apache; and seven sons, Sample of Shawnee, John and Bert of Apache; Levi, Fazel, Floyd and Guy of Carnegie. There are also 29 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Mrs. Moore also has one sister, Mrs. Marea Grover of Corning, New York.
