Alden Pioneer Dies Suddenly At Anadarko Tuesday

J.T. Mickley, pioneer resident of the Alden community died Tuesday while visiting with friends on the courthouse lawn at Anadarko.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the First Christian church at Apache, with burial at the Alden cemetery.

Mickley homesteaded on a farm west of Apache January 16, 1902.

He and his wife were active in organizing the Cumberland Presbyterian church at Alden.

He moved to Anadarko last June to make his home with a daughter, Mrs. George Tidmore, after having lived at Apache since 1946.

He was born January 25, 1872, near Portersville, Pa.v He has been a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian church at Alden since September 15, 1929. He was married to Miss Clara Bell Davis on November 29, 1900. His wife preceded him in death on April 10, 1945.

He is survived by two sons, Earl Mickley and Elmer Mickley of Carnegie; one daughter, Mrs. George Tidmore, Anadarko; two sisters and two brother in Ohio, one brother-in-law, Francis Marion Davis, Pawnee.

Rites Thursday At Alden for Pioneer Church Worker

Mrs. J.T. Mickley, pioneer resident of the Alden community died at her home Tuesday, April 10, after being ill for some time.

Funeral services were held at the Alden Union church by Rev. Elmer Kelley of Burns Flat.

Burial was in the church cemetery Thursday afternoon under direction of the Pitcher Funeral Home.

Clara Bell Davis was born in Sangelman county, Ill., January 19, 1878.

At the age of 18 she was converted and united with the First Christian church of Dixie, Pawnee county, November 29, 1900, she was united in marriage to J.T. Mickley. Unto this union were born four children, Earl Louis, Bonnie Aurlene, Elmer Marion and George Elbert. George Elbert preceded her in death July 14, 1916.

Mr. and Mrs. Mickley moved to their homestead west of Apache January 16, 1902.

On September 15, 1929, Mrs. Mickley helped organize the Cumberland Presbyterian church at Alden and was ordained one of the first deaconesses. She was an active member of the Alden missionary society and was president for a number of years.

Survivors include the husband, J.T. Mickley, Apache; two sons, Earl Mickley, Carnegie; Elmer Mickley, Amarillo, Texas; one daughter, Mrs. George Tidmore, Amarillo. Texas; three grandchildren, Ernest, Maurine and Marion; two daughters-in-law, Mable Mickley, Carnegie, Eugenia Mickley, Amarillo, Texas; one son-in-law, George Tidmore, Amarillo, Texas; two brothers, William David Davis of Cleveland and Francis Marion Davis of Yale; one sister, Cora May Edwards of Sand Springs and a host of friends.
