Jay Monte Porter
May 10, 1896 ~ October 29, 1932


J. M Porter of Albert, Oklahoma died in an Anadarko hospital Saturday afternoon of injuries received when a truck loaded with gravel ran over him near his home in Albert.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the Albert Christian Church of which he became a member three months ago. Rev. Harvey of Ft. Cobb conducted the services.

Interment was in the Albert Cemetery.

C. M. Ferguson, commander of the American Legion post was there with a firing squad and bugler fired an honorary salute and sounded taps at the grave, Members of the Binger Post of which Porter was a member also attended the service.

Jay Monte Porter was born March 10, 1896, at Pawnee, Oklahoma and died October 29, 1932.

He was married to Miss Ruth Young, August 18, 1928. They made their home at Albert for the past two years.

Beside the widow, Porter is survived by seven brothers and two sisters. They are R. M. Porter of Perry, James M. Porter of Jericho Springs, Mo., Frank S., of Neodesha, Kan., Shirley of Pawhuska, Homer of Wewoka, P. A. of Wynona, Mrs. Anna Bishop of Lela, and Mrs. Lizzie Umber of Vici, Okla.

"A brother, Sim Porter died several years ago.

Porter was a veteran of the World War, service in the 43rd Company. 11th Rec. Bat. 162 Depot Brigade. He was buried with military honors.
