October 16, 1940 ~ February 13, 2012

Funeral services for Mary Elizabeth Ingersoll will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, February 18, at the First Christian Church, Claremore. Pastor Charles Ragland and Reverend Kelly Ingersoll will officiate.

Burial will follow at Oney Albert Cemetery, near Binger, at 4:00 p.m. under the direction of the Musgrove-Merriott-Smith Funeral Service and Crematory.

Mary Elizabeth Ingersoll went to be with the Lord on Monday, February 13, 2012 at the age of 71.

The daughter of Lottie Salyer Sheets was born October 16, 1940 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Although she was an only child, she and her cousin Lanny Desautels grew up as sisters.

Mary was raised in southern Oklahoma in the rural community of Oney. She later attended Lawton High School graduating with the class of 1958.

Wanting to continue her education she enrolled at Cameron University. However a short time later, Mary found her way to Watsonville, California. While attending her local church, she met Chuck Ingersoll. They were married November 20, 1959, celebrating 52 years together. They continued living in California until the summer of 1966 when a family vacation back to Oklahoma became permanent.

The next few years took the Ingersoll family over all parts of Oklahoma, but in 1972 they made their home in Claremore. Mary was fortunate to be a stay at home mom allowing her to play a very active role in her children's lives and activities. When the children were older, she and Chuck owned and operated Will Rogers Motor Inn Restaurant from 1974 to 1978.

Mary played an integral part of starting a youth ministry at First Christian Church in Claremore. This led to a position as youth minister at Bethany Christian Church in Tulsa, Ok.

In 1988 she began working for the state of Oklahoma until retiring in 2005. During this time, she enjoyed sewing costumes for her grand daughters and eagerly awaited the arrival of her great grandchildren. Retirement did not last long, as most recently Mary worked for the U. S. Census Bureau which she thoroughly enjoyed. When work was over, Mary always returned to her true love, her family. Her life revolved around her husband, children, grandchildren and especially her great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her mother.

Survivors include her husband Chuck of the home; children, Kristi Schluter and husband Dr. Eric of Tulsa, Kim McCool and husband Tom of Claremore, and Reverend Kelly Ingersoll and wife Anne of Rowland Park, Kansas; grandchildren, Dr. Jason Schluter and wife Blair of Bixby, Jenny Brashears and husband Sgt. First Class Billy of Seattle, Washington, Miranda McCool of Claremore, and Janai Schluter of Los Angeles, California, and great-grandchildren, Eric and Ellie Brashears and Sutton and Fynn Schluter.
