Lansing L. Akeneto
January 16, 1930 ~ May 30, 2018


Lansing L Akoneto, 88, of Fort Cobb, Oklahoma passed away unexpectedly on May 30, 2018 at his home. He was born on January 16th, 1930 to Charles and Sadie [Redhorn] Akeneto in Caddo County [Buzzard Creek].

Lansing spent most of his life doing carpentry work and other odd jobs. He was a member of the Kiowa Tribe of Oklahoma and attended Grace Christian Fellowship and Redstone Baptist church as a kid. He loved to fish go to ballgames at Randlett Park in Anadarko. He loved dogs and was known for feeding 'his' birds.

Lansing Akoneto served with honor in the Air Force from 28 April 1948 to 7 March 1951 earning the rank of Private. He completed Basic Training at Sheppard AFB, TX and Technician School at Fort Warren, WY as a carpenter. PVT Akoneto served overseas for 1 year 10 months and 18 days with the 449th Fighter Squadron, Alaska Air Command based at Ladd AFB in Fairbanks, Alaska. He was discharged at Great Falls, MT AFB. PVT Akoneto was awarded the National Defense Service medal for military service during a nation emergency.

Lansing is survived by 3 Daughters: Brenda Joy Rawson of Lawton, Oklahoma, Karen Linnea Reeder of Midwest City, Oklahoma, Teresa Ann Miller of Anadarko, Oklahoma, 11 Grandchildren, 14 Great grandchildren, 2 Great-Great Grandchildren, 1 Sister n law, Margie Akoneto of Anadarko, Oklahoma.

He was preceded in death by: His parents, 3 Sisters: Flara Redbird, Vernola Parton, and Mary Sheila Miller, 3 Brothers: Rudolph Akoneto, Everett Gene Akoneto, and Charles Levi "C.L."" Akoneto, 1 Grand daughter: Juanita Miller, 1 Great Grandson, Beau Evans.

Services for Lansing will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 15, 2018 at Ray & Martha's Funeral Home Chapel in Anadarko, Oklahoma with Rev. Ted Mercer officiating.

Interment will take place at Redstone Cemetery 2.5 miles North of the Apache Y.

Services are under the direction of Ray & Martha's Funeral Home of Anadarko.
