Ruby Pearl Young (Hopkins) passed from this life on November 26, 2025, in Atoka, Oklahoma, at the age of 100. She was born on August 14, 1925, in Caney, Oklahoma, to Thomas Otto Hopkins and Dora (Wade) Hopkins.
Ruby attended Goodland Indian School near Hugo, Oklahoma. Ruby worked as a seamstress most of her life and was a homemaker. Ruby was of the Baptist faith. Ruby married Kenneth Young in Caney, Oklahoma in 1947. Together they raised seven children: Leonard, Martha, Michael, Donna, Kenny, Robby, and Tony.
Ruby was greatly loved by her family, her church families, and many, many friends. Her strong Christian faith inspired and influenced everyone who knew her. Ruby said her advice to others is to "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and he will fulfill your desires." Her last quote before her passing was, they say your life speaks volumes. I have tried to live a good life. Tried to please the Lord. When you are happy in God, you are joyful. Let the spirit lead you!
Ruby is preceded in death by her parents; Thomas Otto Hopkins and Dora (Wade) Hopkins, husband; Kenneth Young, children; Martha Goodwin and Michael Young, and all her siblings.
Ruby is survived by her son; Leonard Young and spouse Donna of Mead, OK, daughter; Donna (Sug) Dickey of Mead, OK, son; Kenny Young and spouse Linda of Kyle, TX, son; Robby Young and spouse Debbie of Ardmore, OK, son; Tony Young of Caddo, OK, 25 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren, extended family, and friends.
A visitation for Ruby will be held on Monday, December 1, 2025, from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM at Brown's Funeral Service chapel in Durant, OK.
A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Brown's Funeral Service chapel in Durant, OK, with Kerry Groce officiating.
Burial will take place at Restland Cemetery in Silo, OK following the service. Serving as pallbearers are her grandsons, Jeremy Young, Jared Young, Kody Young, David Young, Ben Young, and Jack Young. Honorary pallbearers are Nathan Bryant, Charles Williams, Rusty Daniel, Mike Goodwin, Thomas Emro, Ian Cy Young, J.R. Emro, Wre Young, and Stanley Hopkins.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to any Autism Awareness Foundation.
