Johnnie Belle Davis Townsend, 80, of Colbert, Oklahoma, passed away Sunday night March 18, 2012, at Oak Ridge Nursing Center in Durant.

She was born May 30, 1931, in O'Donnell, Texas, to W.C. and Maggie Turner Davis.

She was educated in Achille Oklahoma Schools and married Calvin Townsend April 6, 1947, in Achille and they lived in Texas before moving back to Achille in 1963.

She was a longtime member of Yarnaby Assembly of God and worked for Safeway for 35 years before retiring in 1990.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, nine sisters, one brother and her son-in-law, Mike Barrow.

Johnnie is survived by one son, Gene Townsend and wife Mel Don of Calera, Oklahoma, two daughters, Mary Vellotti and husband Glenn of Colbert, Oklahoma, and Becky Malaney and husband Jerry of Achille, Oklahoma; one brother, Boss David of Lubbock, Texas; six grandchildren, Chris and Angie Townsend, Missy Loven, Jason and Justin Vellotti and Cassie Shires; fourteen great grandchildren, four great great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Johnnie Townsend will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday afternoon March 22, 2012, at the Yarnaby Assembly of God in Yarnany, Oklahoma, with Reverend H. H. Davis and Reverend Rick Ring officiating.

Burial will follow in the Rosewood Cemetery in Achille. Pallbearers will be Chris Townsend, Jason Vellotti, Justin Vellotti, Cody Townsend, Tanner Blackwell and Seth Blackwell.

Family night will be from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Wednesday night at Cunningham Funeral Home in Colbert.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent in memory of Johnnie Townsend to the Yarnaby Assembly of God in Yarnaby, Oklahoma.
