Melvin "Doug" Greenlee

Melvin “Doug” Greenlee a respected businessman, beloved family member and resident of Kingston, Oklahoma left this life in Denison, Texas on Wednesday, October 28, 2015 at the age of 73 years 9 months and 2 days. Doug was born in Rison, Arkansas on Monday, January 26, 1942 to Edwin Alexander and Mary Frances (Coats) Greenlee. Doug married his sweetheart Deborah McMurtrey in Denton, Texas on February 15, 2000.

Doug got his start working for a landscape lighting company in the mid 80s, within a year he founded the company ILLUMINATIONS by Greenlee. He obtained a patent on his bullet light. Today it is the most commonly used light for landscape lighting, later he formed the company Greenlee Lighting . Doug was referred to as the Master of Illumination. His company was purchased in 1993 by the huge corporation LSI. Greenlee is still one of the top commercial landscape lighting in the industry. After selling his company he spent most of his time with his cherished horses and becoming the proud owner of the World Champion halter horse known as Showtime. Doug always loved the water and owned several boats from speed boats to Yachts. In addition to all of his ventures he partnered with a friend building the Larger Marble and Style Stone Countertop business, later selling it to an Italian Marble Company. Now as if that wasn't enough he partnered with me (Tim) during a tough time in order to help save my company from going under in 2008. Now Timco Logistics is one of the Largest truck load companies in Dallas, Texas.

Mr. Greenlee is survived by his beloved wife, Deborah Greenlee of Kingston, Oklahoma; sons, Joshua Keeton of Durant, Oklahoma and Aubrey Greenlee and wife Susan of Celina, Texas; grandchildren, Rielly, Ayden, Carlee, Hudson, Henley and Hadlyn Greenlee all of Celina, Texas; brothers, James Greenlee of Kemp, Oklahoma and Don Greenlee of The Colony, Texas.

Mr. Greenlee was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin Alexander Mary Frances Greenlee; sister, Mary Frances Hewitt.

A gathering of family and friends will be from 6:00~7:00 PM Friday, October 30, 2015 at the Holmes ~ Coffey ~ Murray Funeral Home in Durant, Oklahoma. A celebration of his life will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, October 31, 2015 at the Holmes ~ Coffey ~ Murray Chapel in Durant with Bro. Grady Ford and son-in-law Tim Balch officiating. Interment will follow at Achille Cemetery in Achille, Oklahoma. Pallbearers will be Gary Craighead, Don Jackson, Robert Davis, Jim McDaniel, Steve Chambless and Curtis Thresher.
