Meda Ferguson, 93, Porum Landing, went to be with her Lord and Savior Thursday, March 31, 2005.

Funeral services were today at the Kelley Memorial Chapel of Hunn, Black & Merritt Funeral Home in Eufaula.

Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m. today at Rosewood Cemetery in Achille.

She was born April 22, 1911, in Kemp.

She graduated from Kemp High School in 1928.

She was married to Wayne Ferguson February 2, 1934, in Achille. Together they worked hard and raised a family in Oklahoma, California, Arizona and New Mexico.

She loved her daughters and cherished her grandchildren, her great-grandchildren and her great-grant-grandchild.

She was a wonderful cook. Her greatest pleasure was reading her Bible and going to church. She loved to talk to people about her faith in Jesus Christ and how they, too, could be a child of God. She was a member of the Lindsey Chapel Baptist Church and also attended Friendship Baptist Church.

She taught Sunday School many years at Lindsey Chapel.

She is survived by daughters, Louise Joice and Geneva Whitfield and husband Frank of Porum Landing; grandchildren, Jamie Frasier of Tahlequah, Brian Joice and wife Erin of Baldwin, Florida, Douglas Thorton and wife Debbie, Jay Thorton and wife Ann of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Bradley Whitfield of Oklahoma City and Phala Whitaker and husband Harrold of Roswell, New Mexico, thirteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 67 years, Wayne, and one daughter.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation.
