Leonard Murrell Stanfield

Leonard Murrell Stanfield passed away peacefully at home on January 25, 2025, in Sherman, Texas, at the age of 83. He was born on December 16, 1941, in Hickman, Kentucky, to Leonard and Margie Florine (Johnson) Stanfield. On June 15,1963, Leonard married the love of his life, Jean Stanfield, and together they shared 46 years of marriage until her passing in 2009.

Leonard honorably served his country in the U.S. Army. He later built a fulfilling career as a Foreman for Dodge in Materials Management, where he was respected by his colleagues for his leadership and integrity. Before losing his eyesight, Leonard was an avid golfer, enjoying the peacefulness of the course and the challenge of the game. He also enjoyed the thrill of watching NASCAR.

Those left to cherish Leonard's memory are his three children: Tommy Stanfield and his wife Sharon of Columbia, South Carolina; Terry Stanfield of Mishawaka, Indiana; and Lisa Brough and her husband Chad of Danville, Illinois. He is also survived by his brothers Neil Stanfield and Gary Stanfield, as well as his favorite sister Peggy Johnson and her husband Tom. His legacy lives on with his grandchildren, including Amber Ripley and her husband Randal of South Bend, Indiana; Josh Stanfield of South Carolina; Megan and Anna Stanfield-Hagen of Michigan; Danielle Crews and her husband Andrew of Colorado; Samantha Snider of Georgia; Ty Dwyer of Naperville, Illinois; Shannon Skillern and her husband Chris of Oklahoma; and Hunter Stanfield of Oklahoma, as well as his five great-grandchildren. Leonard spent the last few years of his life in a loving companionship with Irene Crochetiere.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Margie Stanfield, his beloved wife Jean Stanfield, his brothers Robert Stanfield, Wayne Stanfield, and Allen Stanfield, and his granddaughter Tiffani Diane Stanfield.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 28, 2025, in the Rose Hill Cemetery pavilion with Pastor Lee Armstrong officiating.
