Mark Schofield, born in December 1955 in Las Vegas, Nevada, passed peacefully at home on 10 June 2025 after a battle with cancer. The oldest of six children, Mark grew up in Las Vegas Nevada and Green River Wyoming. At age 19, Mark left for a two year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Dublin, Ireland. He remained an active member of the church throughout his life, serving in many leadership positions, including as Bishop of the Dearborn, Michigan Ward. Following his mission, he attended Weber State University in Ogden, Utah, where he met and married Kathie Lemon. They had two children, Aaron and Michelle.
Following career opportunities as a computer programmer and systems analyst, Mark and his family lived in Iowa, California, Florida, New Hampshire, Indiana, and Michigan. Upon retirement, Mark and Kathie moved to Bryan County, Oklahoma in May 2022 on a church mission, and remained to start a wellness business and continue serving in the church and in prison ministry. The family is grateful to the community who supported them after Mark's sudden diagnosis of glioblastoma in early 2025, in particular, they wish to thank Heart to Heart Hospice, the members of the Durant Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and their neighbors in Calera.
Mark is survived by his wife, Kathie of the home, his son Aaron Schofield and wife Anne of Virginia, his daughter Michelle Sweeny and husband Jonny of Indiana, and ten grandchildren.
