Funeral services for Jewel Inez Patterson, of El Cajon California, were held at 10:00 a.m. Friday morning August 3, 2012 in the Calera Baptist Church with Reverend Charles Loyd officiating. Burial followed in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Calera under the direction of Cunningham Funeral Home in Colbert, Oklahoma.

She was born near Calera, Oklahoma on November 6, 1917 and passed away peacefully at home on July 25, 2012 at the age of 94.

Inez went to Central High School. She graduated from the University of Oklahoma at Norman in 1939 with a bachelor's in English, and in 1940 with a Masters in Secondary Education.

On June 6, 1943, she married Kenneth F. Patterson and they moved to southern California.

They loved to travel, taking trips to France, England, Austria, India and even the Soviet Union during the Cold War just after it opened to tourists.

She also loved spending time with her children and grandchildren, often taking them on trips back to Oklahoma to visit relatives.

Church was a big part of Inez's life. She was a founding member of Santee Christian Church, in Santee, California.

Survivors include her three children, Kenneth F. Patterson, Jr., Evelyn Torres and Louise Wilson, four grandchildren, Dianne McCormick, Matthew Wilson, Laura Ahart, and Kristina Ketchel, and four great-grandchildren, Jacob McCormick, Camille Ahart, Natalie Ahart and Owen Ketchel.
