Opal Lee Collier passed from this life on March 6, 2018. She was born to Wid and Ruby Fulgham on September 24, 1925 at home in Haywood, OK. She was 92 years, five months, and ten days old.

Opal was a "spit-fire" who could make people chuckle as well as be "put in their place"! She was not afraid to speak her mind. In her early working years, she worked for North Park Inn in Dallas where she met several music stars like Elvis Presley, Fats Domino, and Charlie Pride. She also worked in management for Safeway for many years. Later she baby-sat numerous kids. She wasn't afraid to equally love them and discipline them! They loved her in return and most called her "Nana". Opal also loved Country and Western dancing. When CB radios were popular, her handle was "Little White Cloud", and she enjoyed talking to the truckers while driving, mostly to figure out where the "bears" (police) were lurking! She liked to YELL for the Dallas Cowboys as well as cook big meals for her family. She also probably spent too much money on her grandchildren! She loved her kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids fiercely. Opal was also very proud of her Choctaw heritage and would occasionally retell stories about how difficult it was for native American children in the era which she grew up.

Opal spent a little more than her last year as a resident of Southern Pointe Living Center in Colbert, OK. The staff of the Memory Care Unit there genuinely loved Opal and her feistiness. The family of Opal is very thankful and appreciative for all of those health-care workers.

Opal was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters- Decota and Dorotha, and her daughter Donell. She is survived by her son Rodney Collier and wife Barbara, granddaughter Angie Styles and husband Mike, granddaughter Ladonne Bourbeau and husband Charlie, grandson Alan and wife Renee, granddaughter Whitney Sanchez and husband Marcos, as well as great-grandchildren: Charlsie Grace (and husband Cody) and Elyssa McLean, Damian and Mason Sanchez, Kaylee Rose and Kaitlyn and Austin Collier, and Joshua and Micaiah Bourbeau. She also is survived by three nephews- Richard Staples, Edward Staples, and Bounce McFerran- and their wives and children whom she dearly loved.

The funeral will be held at 10:00 Friday morning, March 9, 2018 at Holmes Coffey Murray Funeral Home in Durant, OK. Monty Wood, pastor of Armstrong Baptist Church will be officiating. A graveside service will follow the chapel service at Rose Hill Cemetery in Calera, OK. Pallbearers will be Alan Collier, Marcos Sanchez, Damian Sanchez, Mike Styles, Jeff Staples, Tommy McFerran, Dusty Miller, and Charlie Bourbeau. Honorary pallbearers will be Richard Staples, Edward Staples, and Bounce McFerran.

The family would like to express gratitude to Holmes Coffey Murray Funeral Home for their compassionate handling of arrangements, to friends and family who will take time to attend services, and to Voca Baptist Church in Caney for their hospitality and generosity.
