Mary Lou Brookshire, 88, of Mead Oklahoma, passed away Sunday, June 1, 2025, on the ranch her and her husband built together.

Mary Lou was born on Monday, October 26, 1936, in Lake Texoma to Eamy and Bessie Novotny. She grew up in the Lake Texoma area and later moved to the Texas panhandle with her parents. She graduated from Pampa High School in 1954 and went on to graduate from business college. Throughout her career she worked at Crall Products and Precision Filter as a production and office manager.

On June 24, 1974, Lee and Mary Lou Brookshire were married in Las Vegas, a favorite vacation destination of theirs. Together they enjoyed bargain hunting, donut shop conversations with friends, raising a garden and tending to her flowers, and life on the ranch. When Mary Lou was younger, she enjoyed dancing and was an avid bowler. She loved to go to Choctaw Casino and is a member of the Mead Baptist Church attending when she was able.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lee Brookshire; a daughter, Cindy Barnheart; mother, Bessie Novotny; father, Eamy Novotny; step- daughter, Patricia Bailey; and step-son Leon Brookshire.

Marylou is survived by her son, Randy Pryor, of Mead, OK; step-daughter, Rhonda Moore and her children Jason, Shawn, and Sabrina of Oklahoma City, OK; Grandchildren- Carrie (Nick) McKee of Davenport, FL; Cara (Joshua) Nunn of East Wenatchee, WA; and Joshua (Leeza) Pryor of Denton, TX; Great grandchildren- Nicholas McKee, Tanleigh McKee, Taylor Nunn, and Rylan Nunn-along with numerous extended family members.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, June 6, at Rose Hill Cemetery pavilion in Calera with Bro. Wes Schreier officiating.

Viewing hours will be held from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM on Thursday, June 5, at Brown's Funeral Home in Durant.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Dravet Foundation in Mary Lou's memory.
