JOHNNY WARD TEEL PASSED FROM THIS LIFE FRIDAY, MAY 29, 2026, IN DENISON, TEXAS AT THE AGE OF 74. JOHN WAS BORN TO NADINE WARD TEEL AND JOHN ELMO TEEL OCTOBER 9, 1951, IN DURANT, OK. HE GRADUATED FROM BLUE HIGH SCHOOL AS SALUTATORIAN IN 1969 AND ATTENDED SOUTHEASTERN OKLAHOMA STATE UNIVERSITY.
JOHN WORKED FOR DURANT INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT BEFORE OPENING "JOHN TEEL'S JUNK BARN" WITH THE LOVE OF HIS LIFE, JOYCE MARLENE VESTERBY, WHOM HE MET WHILE PICKING UP SLOP AT THE HOLIDAY INN. THEY WERE MARRIED IN 1988 AND SPENT 30 WONDERFUL YEARS TOGETHER. IN HIS EARLY 20'S, JOHN STARTED HIS MOST NOTABLE ADVENTURE: AUCTIONEERING. JOHN'S LEGACY IS ONE OF STEWARDSHIP. HE LIVED TO SERVE OTHERS, WHETHER IT BE A HOT MEAL, A PLACE TO SLEEP, OR EVEN JUST A JOKE TO BRIGHTEN YOUR DAY. JOHN WAS A MENTOR TO MANY, RESPECTING AND LOVING EVERYONE REGARDLESS.
JOHN IS SURVIVED BY HIS THREE BELOVED SONS; BEN TEEL AND WIFE CARLA OF BLUE, OK; KEN TEEL OF BLUE, OK; CLINT SHAFFER AND WIFE JACKIE OF ERA, TX; GRANDCHILDREN BROCK AND COURTNEY ALLEN OF ROBERTA, OK; MAKAYLA TEEL, TUCKER WHITAKER, AND SHAELYNN WHITAKER OF BLUE, OK; SHELBY GRAHAM AND HUSBAND JUSTIN OF BENNINGTON, OK; KIRSTEN FRIESEN AND HUSBAND ADAM OF MESQUITE, TX; CARTER SHAFFER OF ERA, TX AND FOUR GREAT GRANDCHILDREN, BRYNLEE ALLEN, JETTSON AND JAXSTON GRAHAM, RYKER FRIESEN AND ONE MORE ON THE WAY; AS WELL AS COUNTLESS OTHERS WHOM JOHN CONSIDERED HIS FAMILY.
JOHN IS PRECEEDED IN DEATH BY HIS PARENTS, NADINE AND ELMO TEEL; IN-LAWS RONALD AND BEAULAH VESTERBY, AND HIS WIFE AND BEST FRIEND, JOYCE MARLENE TEEL.

A visitation for John will be held on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, from 6:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. at Brown's Funeral Service chapel.
A funeral service to honor the life of John will be held on Thursday, June 4, 2026, at 1:00 P.M. at the Caddo High School Gymnasium with Landon Jestis officiating.
Interment will take place at Pleasant Hill Cemetery with Ben Teel, Clint Shaffer, "Murph" Michael Murphy, Ken Teel, Mike Varner, Brandon Curnette, and Josh Jordan serving as pallbearers.
Serving as honorary pallbearers are Chili Joe Bills, Jared Whitaker, Dave McGehee, Mike Willis, Scott Allen, and Ronnie Davis.
Services are under the direction of Brown's Durant Funeral and Cremation Service.
