H.O. "Corky" Stinnett

H.O. “ Corky” Stinnett a respected resident of Mead, Oklahoma went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, May 21, 2014 in McKinney, Texas at the age of 84 years 3 months and 19 days. He was born to Henry M. and Della Minnie (Brown) Stinnett in Heavener, Oklahoma. Corky married Lois Jean Hammonds in Vernon, Texas on Friday, May 13, 1949.

Corky served his country and community in the United States Army. He was a member of the Mead Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon for many years. He retired from the Texaco Refinery in El Paso, Texas where he was a Maintenance Foreman for 30 years. Corky met his wife Lois and after he retired they moved to Mead, Oklahoma. He loved to stay busy helping others and went fishing whenever he could find the time. But the most important thing to Corky was his family and he cherished the time they all spent together.

Mr. Stinnett is survived by his wife Jean of the home; sons, David Stinnett of Mead, Oklahoma and Jim Stinnett and wife Robbie of Duncanville, Texas; grandsons, James Stinnett and wife Tabby of Durant, Oklahoma and Troy Stinnett of Arlington, Texas; granddaughters, Adrean Stinnett of Little Rock, Arkansas, Emily Davis of Durant, Oklahoma, Jessica Gentry and husband Jeff of Waxahachie, Texas and Jenna Purkey and husband Jonathan of Midland, Texas; brother, Herman Stinnett and wife Olivia of Ketchum, Oklahoma; great-grandchildren, Tyler, Lane, Alexis and Skylar all of Durant, Oklahoma; great-great grandchildren, Layla and Jason of Texas.

Mr. Stinnett was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Minnie Stinnett; daughter, Glenda Jean Stinnett; brothers, Jimmy and Roger Stinnett; sisters, Camilla Waldrop and June Carter.

The family would like to suggest that in lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Mead Youth Fund, PO Box 207, Mead, Oklahoma 73449

Family Hour will be 7:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. Friday, May 23, 2014 at the Mead Baptist Church in Mead, Oklahoma. A Funeral Service in honor of his memory will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, May 24, 2014, at the Mead Baptist Church in Mead, Oklahoma with Bro. Kerry Groce officiating. Interment will follow at Mead Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be James Stinnett, Troy Stinnett, Tyler Stinnett, Lane Stinnett, Jonathan Purkey and Jeff Gentry. Honorary pallbearers will be the Deacons of the Mead Baptist Church.
