Willis Charley McClour

Aug. 30, 1945 ~ Aug. 5, 2017

Willis Charley McClour, 71, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed from this life Saturday, Aug. 5, 2017, at his home in Mead, Okla. He was born Aug. 30, 1945, at the family home in Hugo to Charley Hoey McClour and Mable (Ward) McClour. He married Margie Mason in 1963. They had two children, Sheila and Paul. Willis worked at the Peanut Mill for some years before starting his early career as a mechanic.

He married the love of his life, Sue Ann (Grigg) McClour, Feb. 26, 1976, in Denison, Tex. They had 41 wonderful years of marriage. Growing up, Willis attended school in Hugo, Bokchito, and Durant. Later in life, he attended Southeastern Oklahoma State University. Willis loved to work with his hands. He could fix anything he took apart, spending 20 years as a mechanic. He enjoyed making things, such as wood and leather keepsakes and gifts. Hunting, camping, and fishing were among his favorite pastimes. In 1996, he took over his father-in-law Henry Grigg's water well service. Willis spent nearly 20 years repairing, replacing, and installing water well pumps in southeastern Oklahoma.

He was a quiet, peaceful man, who demonstrated wisdom in all areas of life. He was slow to speak, chose his words carefully, and was a loving, forgiving man. Willis walked in peace, mercy, and forgiveness with all people. He enjoyed the beauty of God's creation. He also enjoyed the outdoors to spend time in prayer with his Creator. Willis loved his four children dearly. He thought about them and prayed for them constantly. He loved worship songs.

Willis was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Virginia Holder; brother, Chester McClour; and niece, Kimberly (Holder) Bradford.
