Johnny Boyd Belcher, of Hendrix, passed away peacefully on March 3, 2025, in Denison, Texas, at the age of 81. He was born on August 14, 1943, in Oscar, Kentucky, to James Everett and Dora Jean (Inman) Belcher. He was married to Rose Mary Belcher for 44 years until her passing in 2008.
Johnny spent his career as a lineman for GTE, where he worked hard and made lifelong friends. His love for westerns was well-known, and he could often be found watching his favorite shows or films, whiskey in hand, relishing the adventures of days gone by. Johnny loved horses, often spending his free time caring for and riding them. In true western culture, Johnny enjoyed shooting guns, connecting him to the westerns he loved and to his Kentucky roots.
He is survived by his family, including his son John Belcher and wife Maleisa, daughter Roseann Hartley and husband John, son-in-law Dale Ferguson, six grandchildren including Jeanette Welch, and several great-grandchildren.
Johnny was preceded in death by his parents, James Everett and Dora Jean Belcher, his beloved wife, Rose Mary Belcher, and his daughter, Janeen Ferguson.
Family and friends will gather for visitation on Thursday, March 6, 2025 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Holmes-Coffey-Murray Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held to honor Johnny's life at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, March 7, 2025, at Kemp Cemetery with Brother Michael Moody officiating.
