Imogene (McGee) Wilson, age 91, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and life-long resident of the Albany area, passed from this life on Wednesday, July 1, 2026 at her home. She was born in Albany on January 29, 1935 to Oscar Claude McGee and Laura Etta (Lynn) McGee, the 3rd of five children.
While attending Albany High School, Imogene met James Ralph Wilson, also from Albany, and the two were married June 14, 1952. Blessed with two daughters and two sons, they shared 45 years together until Ralph's passing in 1998.
Raised during the Great Depression, Imogene wasn't afraid of hard work. She and Ralph farmed and ranched near Albany for many years, raising cattle, growing hay and harvesting pecans. A cattlewoman at heart, Imogene loved checking her cows every day. She loved all kinds of animals, including two unique pets, a crow named Blacky and a wild hog named Porky. Gifted with a green thumb, she grew a garden every year, raising and canning vegetables for the family.
Even when her outside chores were laid by, she would continue working inside, cooking, making quilts, sewing, and crocheting. For enjoyment, she especially loved attending high school basketball games.
Known for her compassionate and loving nature, Imogene loved helping people. She was always one of the first people to donate clothing and home goods to local families following a disaster.
Imogene's love and memory will be carried on in the hearts of her son Ray Wilson and spouse Carrie McBride of Albany; her daughter-in-law Sonja Wilson of Albany; her grandson Micah Wilson and partner Steve Barnes of Sherman, Texas; her granddaughter Jami Clay of Albany; her great-grandchildren Lakyn Clay and Haisley Clay; and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
Preceding Imogene in death were her husband Ralph, her parents Oscar and Laura; her daughter Diannia and husband Tommy Allen; her son Glenn Wilson; her daughter Linda Wilson; and her siblings.
The Wilson Family will receive friends for visitation on Sunday evening, July 5, 2026 from 6:00-8:00 p.m in the Holmes-Coffey-Murray Funeral Home Chapel, 121 N. 5th Ave., Durant, Oklahoma. A funeral service will be held Monday, July 6 at 10:00 a.m. at the Highland Cemetery Pavilion in Durant, Oklahoma. Words of comfort will be brought by Clark Harp before she is laid to rest beside her husband Ralph. Those serving as pallbearers are Terry McGee, Justin McGee, Brian Wilson, Bradley Wilson, Chris Wilson, Aaron Dunegan, and Kenny Heflin. Honorary pallbearers are Joe Wilson, Richard Wilson, and Gary Wilson.
Memorial donations can be made in Imogene's honor to the Wade-Albany Senior Center at PO Box 85, Albany, Oklahoma, 74726 in lieu of flowers.
