Wanda "Sue" May Wilkerson

Wanda “Sue” Wilkerson of Cartwright, Oklahoma was born on October 25, 1942, in Idabel, Oklahoma to Elmer Leon May and Effie (Mitchell) May. Sue passed peacefully from this life at home on September 8, 2022. She married her love, William Wilkerson on July 3, 1971, in Arizona.

Sue was a seamstress and an avid artist. She was spunky and known for being a “low payer”, always luring her grandchildren to do things for her and in return paying them with a candy bar. Sue was a member of Cobb Baptist Church. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother, as well as a friend. Sue will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her daughter Malinda Wilkerson and husband Norman of Denison, Texas, son Leslie Wilkerson of Madill, Oklahoma, daughter Ellen Gilmore of Hugo, Oklahoma, daughter Tanja Forbes and husband Jack of Cartwright, Oklahoma, stepdaughter Dottie Coverdale of Phoenix, Arizona, stepson William R. Wilkerson and wife Fidelia of Kokomo, Indiana, stepdaughter Donna Wirik and husband Ronny of Durant, Oklahoma, and her best friend Okeena Blevins. Her legacy lives on with 27 grandchildren and numerous great and great-great-children.

Sue is preceded in death by her parents Elmer and Effie May, husband William Wilkerson, brothers Melvin and Dale May, stepson Harold David Wilkerson, and great-great-granddaughter Maddison Faith Martin, son-in-law Ronnie Gilmore and daughter-in-law Nesie Wilkerson.

Family visitation is scheduled for Sunday, September 11, 2022, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Monday, September 12, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at the Holmes-Coffey-Murray Chapel. Sue will be laid to rest at Highland Cemetery in Durant, Oklahoma following the funeral service.

Those serving as pallbearers are Jadan Forbes, Colby Burns, Ronald Wirik, Jr., Trevor Merritt, Hunter Wines, and Kyler Weathers. Michael Wilkerson and Chris Wirik are serving as honorary pallbearers.
