Velmarie (Nelson) Tucker

Velmarie Tucker, a resident of Mead, OK passed from this life at her home on April 29, 2021 at the age of 97. She was born in Shawnee, OK to George Nelson and Louise (Foster) Nelson on January 29, 1924. Velmarie married O.L. Tucker in Sherman, TX on January 10, 1946.

Velmarie loved to dance and play bingo for hours. She was an excellent cook making peach cobbler, goulash, and biscuits and gravy for those she loved. Velmarie was a retired nursing home administrator.

Mrs. Tucker is survived by her children, Johnny Tucker of Mead, OK, Linda Allen of Mead, OK, O.L. Tucker of Letors, TX, daughter-in-law, Clydene Tucker of Mead, OK, 8 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren.

Family hour will be from 6-8:00 PM on Friday April 30th at the Holmes~Coffey~Murray Funeral Home in Durant, OK. A graveside service will be at 10:00 AM on Saturday May 1st at the Highland Cemetery with Bro. Tommy Rowland and Virgil Feinsod officiating. Her pallbearers will be James Allen, Mark Tucker, Cash Bixby, Eli Feinsod, Victor Bruns, Kenneth Ingram, Dudley Rowland, and Michael Nelson. Her honorary pallbearers will be Michael Hogan and Mark Nelson.
