Funeral services for Floyd M. Sullivan, age 86 of Durant, will be held at 1:00PM in the First Church of the Nazarene on Tuesday, June 3, 2008 with Rev. John Kinsey officiating. Interment will be at Highland Cemetery. Pallbearers will be John Amis, Brad Moore, Colby Sullivan, Jason Apple, Mark Austin and Jay Orendorff.

Floyd was born in Albany, Oklahoma on December 30, 1921 to the late Minnie Lee (Chapman) Sullivan and Carl Sullivan. He attended Albany schools and Southeastern State College. Floyd married Ludie Iva Mitchell on December 18, 1934 in Durant. They opened Sullivan’s Grocery in the late 1940’s and operated it together for 10 years. Floyd and Ludie started Floyd Sullivan Construction Company in 1958 and ran the company for over 40 years. Mr. Sullivan served for 5 years with the Bryan County Soil Conservation District until his retirement. Floyd loved to hunt and fish and he raised and trained wonderful bird dogs. He took up golf late in life and became an avid player who competed in tournaments with his son, grandsons, and son-in-law. Floyd was recognized as an Honorary Life Member of Durant Country Club for his countless hours of time and equipment at the golf course.

He was most proud of his many years with his loving wife and their 4 children and grandchildren. The shining light in his life was his family. Floyd went to be with his Lord at his home on Friday, May 30, 2008. He will be lovingly remembered by everyone who knew him. Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Ludie Sullivan; Daughters, Donella Amis and her husband Bill of Norman, Oklahoma, Anita Burkhalter and husband Bruce of Spring, Texas, Markita Moore and her husband Bill of Scottsdale, Arizona; Son, Bryan Sullivan and his wife Patty of Yukon, Oklahoma; Sisters, Lorene Hougar of San Antonio, Texas and Ruth Ann Miller of Edmond, Oklahoma; Six Grandchildren, eight Great Grandchildren and many close nieces, nephews, and a great many relatives and friends.

The family will receive visitors at Dalton-Holmes on Monday, June 2, 2008 from 6-8pm.

Services are under the direction of Dalton-Holmes Funeral Home in Durant, Oklahoma.
