Charles "Lighting" Russell

Charles “Lightning” Russell, a veteran of the United States Army, resident of Durant, Oklahoma and beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather and sibling, passed from this life on May 14, 2019 at the age of 78. Family hour will be from 7-8:00 PM on Thursday May 16, 2019 at the Holmes~Coffey~Murray Funeral Home in Durant, Oklahoma. A celebration of his life will be at 10:00 AM Friday May 17, 2019 at the Holmes~Coffey~Murray Chapel with Bro. Kerry Groce officiating. His final resting place will be at the Highland Cemetery with Eric Roberson, Paul DaVault, Bobbie Lewis, Billy Russell, Ronald Joe Harris, Heath Anderson, Levi Deatherage and Ronald Joe Harris as his pallbearers.

He served his country proudly in the United States Army. Charles enjoyed watching WWE wrestling, working on lawn mowers, and listening to gospel music. He loved seeing and spending time with all his grandkids and great grandkids.

Mr. Russell is survived by his children, Pam Roberson and husband Ricky of Red Oak, Texas, Mike Russell and wife Shelley of Durant, Oklahoma, Darryl Russell and wife Jennifer of Denison, Texas, Kelly Davison of Durant, Oklahoma, and Randall Russell of Durant, Oklahoma: 15 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren: siblings, James Russell and wife Faye of Bennington, Oklahoma, Vernon Russell of Durant, Oklahoma and Clovis Russell of Sherman, Texas.

Mr. Russell was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Wanda Russell: parents, Garland and Vera Mae Russell: brother, Billy Russell: and granddaughter, Kristina Roberson.
