powell-l-g

September 30, 1943 ~ August 17, 2025

Lequita Gail Powell, 81, passed away peacefully at home on August 17, 2025, in Mead, Oklahoma, surrounded by the love of her family. She was born on September 30, 1943, in Vernon, Texas, to Herman Permann and Dovie Juanita Sheffield, and was lovingly raised by her grandparents, George and Sallie Sheffield, who played a significant role in shaping the kind and caring person she became.

She was a beloved wife to her husband, Michael Powell, with whom she shared 63 cherished years and countless adventures. Together, they built not only a beautiful family but also a successful business where Lequita worked with dedication. Above all, her greatest joy came from the love she shared with her grandchildren.

Lequita had a passion for creating and nurturing. She loved tending her garden, cooking for her family, fishing, going on road trips, and making beautiful handmade projects through sewing, quilting, and embroidery. Her care and creativity were reflected in everything she did.

Her legacy of love and strength lives on through her family. She is survived by her devoted husband, Michael; her daughter, Lisa Redman, and son-in-law, Carl, of Arizona; her son, David Powell with daughter-in-law Christina Powell, of Mead, Oklahoma; and her son, Keith Powell, of Mead, Oklahoma. Her grandchildren, Kyle Greenwood and wife Katelyn, Alexi Powell, and Kelson Powell, as well as great-grandchildren Tobias Greenwood, Raiya Greenwood, and Eden Funk, will forever treasure their memories with her. She is also survived by her siblings, Willie Ricks, Connie Wandel, Kathy Biggerstaff, and numerous cousins.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Dovie Juanita Jones; her sister, Theresa Garrett; and her grandparents, George and Sallie Sheffield.
