James Pickett

James Pickett, a resident of Durant, Oklahoma, and beloved member of the Pickett family, passed from this life in Sherman, Texas on Sunday June 24th, 2018 at the age of 66. He was born in Lamar, Oklahoma to Nolan Franklin and Bette Tynes Pickett on March 16, 1952. James married his beloved Barbara in Rockwall, Texas on September 13, 1974.

James worked for the City of Garland as a Foreman in the Water Department, he retired after 33 years of service. He enjoyed working on his 1969 Chevelle, and painting. James was very proud of his grandchildren and looked forward to any time they spent together.

Mr. Pickett is survived by his cherished wife, Barbara of the home; son, Steve Pickett and wife Erin of Little Elm, Texas; daughter, Jennifer Meade of Durant, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Christopher Compton, Colby Compton, Troy Meade and Matthew Meade all of Durant, Oklahoma, and Riley Pickett of Little Elm, Texas; and sisters, Elaine Kibby and husband Jerry of Claremore, Oklahoma, Vinita Fuller and husband Thomas of Garland, Texas, and Sheila Karch and husband David of Wylie, Texas. Numerous nieces and nephews.

Mr. Pickett was preceded in death by his parents, Nolan Pickett and Bette Sangster.

Family hour will be from 7-8:00 PM on Wednesday June 27th at the Holmes~Coffey~Murray Chapel in Durant, Oklahoma. The chapel service will begin at 2:00 PM Thursday June 28th with Bro. Jay Perry officiating. Burial will follow at the Highland Cemetery Pavilion.

Pallbearers: Shawn Kibby, Matthew Converse, Eric Converse, Todd Converse, Nathan Hart and Dusty Stark. Honorary Pallbearers: Kevin Karch, Phillip Kibby, Frank Converse, David Stark, Doug Stark, James Bunch, and Allen Arnold.
