Durant, OK- With sadness, Shirley Margaret Miller succumbed to glioblastoma, an aggressive fast growing brain tumor on Saturday, June 20, 2026 from her residence at the age of 77. Shirley was born on Monday, January 31, 1949 in Lubbock, Texas to James Clyde Grant and Sarah Cornetta (Davis) Grant but was raised by grandparents Bessie and Harland Davis. Shirley left her family here on earth to join Jesus and her heavenly family.
Shirley picked cotton as a kid and had her own kids chopping cotton until 1988. She married Paul Edwin Davidson on June 19, 1965 and were blessed with 7 kids. She lived in Durant for numerous years and worked as a housekeeper at Oak Ridge Nursing Home for 18 years. Shirley enjoyed going to the casino and play bingo. She loved spending time with her family and friends and will be missed by all who knew her.
If Shirley could see her family and friends, she would say, I'm in a better place. Please remember " love you all dearly." I want you to live your lives to the fullest. Tell your family and friends you love them every day. Listen and always be there for them! I will see you again!
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; 5 sisters, Catherine Mae Grant, Clistie Williams, Gladys Powell, Loretta Hazleton, and Mattie Baker; a sister-in-law, Debbie Grant; and grandsons, Shawn Davidson and Jeff Houston.
She is survived by her sons, James Davidson and his wife, Karen, Paul C. Davidson and his wife, Rose, and Michael Miller, all of Durant; daughters, Delores Davidson of Durant, Samantha Dalrymple and her husband, Jessie of Durant, Shelby Garcia and husband, Javier of Bonham, Texas, and Sarah Davidson and partner, Brian Williams of Durant; brothers, Calvin Grant, and Tommy Grant and his wife, Crystal, both of Durant; sisters, Laverne Cozine and her husband, Don of Dallas, Texas, and Annie Mae Lewallen of Calera; and a brother-in-law, Glenn Baker. Shirley had 30 grandkids, 60 great-grandkids, and 3 great-great grandkids.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, June 26, at Brown's Funeral Home chapel with Pastor Adam Cantrell officiating. Shirley's earthly body will be laid to rest at Highland Cemetery with James Davidson, John Grant, Barbara Grant, Harley Crowell, Connie Strout, and Edgar Baker, serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Lark Boyd and Paul Davidson.
Shirley's family will receive friends on Thursday, June 25, from 6-8 PM at Brown's Funeral Home.
